A small squid-like Pokémon, Volkritter is red and turquoise in color. With multiple tentacles around the back of its mantle, Volkritter is a glob of squish. It has large, glassy eyes set forward in its head that give it an adorable appearance. Under its mantle is a sharp beak that it uses to eat and bite. The markings on its mantle and body can light up with bioluminescence.

Etymology: Volkritter is a combination of the words volcano and critter.

Gender Differences: None.

Special Abilities: The blue bulbs and bits of Volkritter's body can light up via bioluminescence.

Behavior: A swarm Pokémon, Volkritter travel in large pods or schools and typically live on rocky coastlines where their brightly glowing bodies can be seen from the shore at night. While not a pest in truth, per se, they are often pesky, getting into things they shouldn't like fishing nets, docks and suctioning onto boat hulls. In some places, Volkritter can be a bit more wary, however, as they are often seen as a delicacy.

Habitat: Rocky coastlines worldwide, though favoring the tropics and not found north or south of the prime meridian.

Diet: Shellfish.
