Pokédex Entry: Exotically beautiful, Scoprikon is coveted by fish keepers and Pokémon collectors alike for its appearance. It is a dangerous Pokémon to keep, with venomous spines in every fin. Coupled with their grumpy demeanor, they tend to make very self-centered pets.
Grumpy to a fault, Scoprikon are known as the Pyroar of the sea due to their mane-like fins that fan around them. Scoprikon have pink bodies with black stripes, large black fins that fan out around them. Purple markings tell the world of their venomous attributes. With a frowning, toothed mouth and angry eyes, Scoprikon do not tend to endear themselves to any that wander across them. Shiny Scoprikon are orange, white and teal.
Etymology: Scoprikon is a combination of the words scorpion, spike and lion.
Gender Differences: None.
Special Abilities: Scoprikon's quills are venomous and it can use them defensively to stick other Pokémon when threatened.
Behavior: Solitary, angry creatures, Scoprikon do not take very kindly to trespassers on their territory and will defend it with their venomous quills. They lash out at prey and predators alike, though not very many fish will try to prey on a Scoprikon. Similar to both lionfish and scorpionfish species of the world, Scoprikon patrol the reefs of the world, scouting their claimed waters for viable food or mates.
Habitat: A tropical fish, they claim quadrants of tropical reefs as their own and route out any fellow Scoprikon or predators with a fury.
Diet: According to a study. Scoprikon prey mostly on small fish, invertebrates, and mollusks in large amounts. Scoprikon are skilled hunters, using specialized bilateral swim bladder muscles to provide exquisite control of location in the water column, allowing the fish to alter its center of gravity to better attack prey The Scoprikon then spreads its large pectoral fins and swallows its prey in a single motion. They blow jets of water while approaching prey, apparently to disorient them.
