Pokédex Entry: Appropriately known for being devils of sand, Sandevil is a native to the deserts of the western hemisphere and southern deserts. They spin around quickly, becoming whirling dervishes in the face of their foes.
A rather large lizard, though still small compared to most species, Sandevil have taken on a reddish coloration and are bands in multiple other colors and zig-zagging stripes. Mostly, they are solid red on their limbs and head with yellow and dark gray spikes and stripes banding across their chest and back, providing them sturdy, prickly defenses. They possess a number of other spikes, dark brown in color, on their elbows and knees and head and the like. Finally, their claws have hardened, becoming a fair deal more useful than Thorlock, and are light gray in color.
Etymology: Sandevil is a combination of the words sand and devil.

Special Abilities: Sandevil is covered in hard, rather sharp spines that dissuade attacks by predators by making it difficult to swallow.
Behavior: Though it preys on insects, it is primarily a prey creature itself. Because of this, Sandevil use a wide variety of means to avoid predation. Their coloration generally serves as camouflage. When threatened, their first defense is to remain still to avoid detection. If approached too closely, they generally run in short bursts and stop abruptly to confuse the predator's visual acuity. If this fails, they puff up their bodies to cause them to appear more horned and larger, so that they are more difficult to swallow. This lizard's unusual gait involves freezing and rocking as it moves about slowly in search of food, water, and mates. Mothers are distinctly protective of nests and young, often grouping nests together and attacking predators that would threaten their children.
Habitat: Sandevil usually lives in the arid scrub land and desert that covers most of the central Australia Region. it also inhabits the northern hemisphere's deserts and hill lands in the Texas area of the Unova Region.
Diet: The diet of Sandevil mainly consists of ants and they often eat thousands of ants in one day. They collect moisture in the dry desert by the condensation of dew on their bodies at night. This dew forms on its skin, and then it is channelled to its mouth in hygroscopic grooves between its spines. During rainfalls, capillary action allows Sandevil to suck in water from all over its body.
