Pokédex Entry: A Pokémon native to the Middle East, legends say that it was the companion of kings and consorts since time immemorial. In present day, they are fiercely loyal and are often employed by soldiers.
Human-like in shape, Inferaid are roughly the size of a short human-being. They are covered in a natural body-armor that is red in color. While appearing like fur, it is actually a hardened form of keratin. Baby Inferaid are born with much softer fur that hardens as they grow older. They are bipedal, with spindly arms that end in massive claws. These arms do not betray the massive amount of physical strength they have. Their faces are dog-like, with curved ears, and their tails are broad and black, like much of their body that isn't covered in the hardened fur. They have a pair of vestigial wings on their back that they can use to hold various styles of weapon.
Etymology: Inferaid is a combination of the words inferno and raid.

Special Abilities: It is said they have enough power in their claws to cut through metal. It is also said that once they have a grip on something with those claws, it's almost impossible to pry them loose. Basically, they are like Feraligatr in the sense that once they have their hold on you, you're finished. Conversely, if someone holds them closed shut, they have trouble opening their claws again. The flightless wings on their back can channel burst of pressurized steam out of them, giving them short spurts of speed when they need them. Think: very limited jet-pack.
Behavior: Inferaid are traditionally known through history as being one of the best companions of soldiers. They were first known in history as being companions to the war-faring race of Assyrians. They took place in many of the wars in the Near East region, from wars fared by the Assyrians, to the Persians, the Turks and Ottoman Turks to the Iranians. As such, they are quite a skilled fighting species, brawling and fighting with a very definitive martial style that is unique to their Pokémon species. Generations of warfare has conditioned this species into the ultimate soldiering companion. Today, they are still seen as such, with squadrons of Inferaid trained by organizations such as the IDF and the Iranian and Iraqi militaries.
Habitat: The areas surrounding the Middle East region.
Diet: Omnivorous. They can survive off of any food that a human can.
