A relatively small and chunky flightless bird, Cassobrawl have ham-shaped bodies with medium-length necks. Their core coloration is black, which presents in the long, fine feathers of their breast and chest. Blue skin and feathers run down the back of their neck, while males have an orange throat and waddle on the front. Males and females both have tough crests on the top of their head, lined in white feathers that evoke the image of a headband. The skin of their feet is blue and they have faint orange talons. Female Cassobrawl are dun or brown in coloration.

Etymology: Cassobrawl is a combination of the words cassowary and brawl.

Gender Differences: Male Cassobrawl are primarily black in coloration with taller crests. Female Cassobrawl are primarily brown in coloration with shorter crests.

Special Abilities: None.

Behavior: Cassobrawl are solitary birds except during courtship, egg-laying, and sometimes around ample food supplies. The male Cassobrawl defends a territory of about five square miles for itself and its mate, while females have overlapping territories of several males. While females move between satellite territories of different males, they appear to remain within the same territories for most of their lives, mating with the same or closely related males over the course of their life span. Male Cassobrawl are incredibly protective of their territory and will get into disputes with other males when new females show up. Like most birds, Cassobrawl have intricate breeding rituals.

Habitat: Cassobrawl are native to the humid rainforests and smaller islands of the southeastern region of the globe, in particular the Australian Region. They will, however, venture out into palm scrub, grassland, savanna, and swamp forest. It is unclear if some islands' populations are natural or the result of trade in young birds by natives.

Diet: Cassobrawl are predominantly frugivorous. Besides fruits, their diet includes flowers, fungi, snails, insects, frogs, birds, fish, rats, mice, and carrion. Fruit from at least twenty-six plant families has been documented in the diet of Cassobrawl. Fruits from the laurel, podocarp, palm, wild grape, nightshade, and myrtle families are important items in the diet. The cassoplum takes its name from the bird.
