Pokédex Entry: Often mistaken for Tamato Berries, Matoma are small, jovial Pokémon that often find their way into gardens and farm to settle down and raise offspring. They shy away from humans until trust is established.
Among the smallest of Pokémon, Matoma is no bigger than a Foongus or a Dedenne. A small red bauble, their soft, juicy bodies are covered in a shiny skin, red in color, the very same color as a Tamato Berry. They are almost completely round, except for two stubby feet that protrude from their body and a tuft of leaves on their head. Small black eyes peer out form their faces over generally happy mouths, and they are sometimes dotted with green specks if they are not close to evolving.
Etymology: Matoma is an alteration of the word tomato.
Gender Differences: None.
Special Abilities: None.
Behavior: Like a number of Grass-type Pokémon commonly mistaken for food, Matoma often hide and shy away from predators, taking shelter in Tamato trees and orchards. When attacked or threatened, they resort to throwing Tamato Berries at their foes, often leading their enemies to look like they're the hosts of a terrible stand-up comedy. That aside, Matoma enjoy sunlight and are often found at the top of Tamato trees, when they feel it's safe, so that they can sunbathe.
Habitat: Wherever Tamatoes are commercially grown, Matoma is not far behind.
Diet: Herbivorous, though Matoma can subside off of just water and sunshine for weeks at a time.
