A small green creature, Nawdile are known appropriately as the "tiny croc" Pokémon due to their physiology. Their legs are slightly yellow and are short and squat, leaving the creatures low to the ground. Nawdile's stubby tail ends in a blunt point. Their snouts are also blunt, if a bit long, ending with their small noses. Light green in color and banded with darker forest green stripes, Nawdile blend in perfectly with muddy waters where they often reside, and the small leaf on their forehead provides further camouflage. Finally, Nawdile posses cocky, half-lidded yellow eyes. Its streamlined body enables it to swim swiftly; it also tucks its feet to the side while swimming, which makes it faster by decreasing water resistance. They have webbed feet which, though not used to propel the animal through the water, allow them to make fast turns and sudden moves in the water or initiate swimming.
Etymology: Nawdile is a combination of the words gnaw and crocodile.
Gender Differences: None.
Special Abilities: The clamping power in their jaws allows a Nawdile to have a near perfect grip when they bite down, meaning once they've snapped something it almost never gets out of its grasp. Since they feed by grabbing and holding onto their prey, they have evolved sharp teeth for piercing and holding onto flesh, and powerful muscles to close the jaws and keep them shut.
Behavior: While social in their youth, Nawdile is not a gregarious species, preferring to remain social only with other Nawdile (and their parent Razorvile) and generally just in their clutch of brethren. They are most often found with their mother in youth, riding upon her back for protection while they are growing and learning to fend for themselves. Nawdile have been known to be very rash and cocky when trained as Pokémon. It is said that Nawdile and its evolved forms are the most social of reptiles. Even though they do not form social groups, many will congregate in certain sections of a river, tolerating each other at times of feeding and basking. Most are not highly territorial, except the mature males, which will not tolerate any others during the breeding seasons.
Habitat: Tropics, primarily in the eastern world's islands, but also found in the Amazon rainforest. Nevertheless, Nawdile are favored exotic pets, having led to small populations in sewers and bayous in other countries.
Diet: Primarily carnivorous, eating mostly fish and amphibians, but has been known to eat vegetation when times are dire. They occasionally cannibalize smaller Nawdile. Their diet is also greatly affected by the size and age of the individual within the same species. All young Nawdile hunt mostly invertebrates and small fish, gradually moving onto larger prey.
