Latios is a large bird-like Pokémon with large jet-like wings extending out of his lower back. Latios has a set of forelimbs that extend out and can be tucked inwards to become more streamlined. He has glossy feathers that help with refracting light and resisting wind friction, allowing the Pokémon to be very aerodynamic when flying. On either side of his head feathers extend out into two white crests.

Latios' body is primarily blue from the breast down, extending into two frill-like fins at his rear. The front of his head is also blue, with a white upside-down drop-like pattern at the center. On his chest, he has a red triangle marking, believed to represent the Pokémon's connection to the legendary Pokémon, Latias.

While in Mega-Form, Latios' forelimbs connect with his wings and extend outwards, giving him more mobility and freedom of flight with his newfound control. The frills in the rear fall lower, and extend out similar to smaller wings, providing stability. Latios' rear also extends out into a form of a tail that decreases drag. The red marking also vanishes. However, two white triangle markings appear at the front of the wings' bases. The pentagon pattern on his head also shapes into a triangle. While in mega-form, it looks very similar to the mega-form Latias. The only known way to differentiate between the two is that he has red colored eyes.

Latios is a serious and direct Pokémon. It never beats around the bush and gets straight to the point. However when not actively in conversation, the Pokémon is rather quiet and reserved, even for a Pokémon. Latios tends to take the direct approach at problems, and would rather take action than hang back. This coupled with the fact that Latios doesn't like sitting still earns it the nickname "The Fearless Wanderer" as it often patrols the area. Devoted to doing good, the Pokémon often helps out Pokémon and people in dire situations.

This also works it's way into Latios' compassionate side. Latios acts like the big brother of Pokémon younger or weaker than himself and feels responsible for them. Due to this, Latios often goes out of it's way to guard younger Pokémon and children especially. While remaining as inconspicuous at it can be, Latios still finds it hard to stay out of conflicts between people. Seeing himself as one of the hands of Arceus himself, he believes his duty is to provide support in times of crises whenever possible, rather than taking a passive route like some other legendaries.

Latios weaved through the trees. Possibly flying far beyond the safe speed among the constant obstacles, but it wasn't a slouch at flying, and besides it had to make good time. The darkspawn minions were spreading out among the forest, and moving closer and closer to a small town miles out. A psychic confirmation told him that Latias had already made contact with some of the minions. Latios was shooting passed the branches at breakneck speed trying to get to the front of the wave and cut them off. Soon enough he was flying overhead of the darkspawn minions. While his feathers reflected the light camouflaging his body, the minions would still be able to sense his presence. He needed to move fast.

Soon he reached the brunt of the wave, and Latios' feathers shifted. The feathers soon began reflecting light forwards, which Latios began mentally drawing on, pooling the light forwards until a beam began shining forwards, beaming through the darkspawn minions. As the minions dropped along Latios' path he slowly rose out from the treetops, feathers quickly shifting back to reflect the light away once more. Quickly surveying the scene, it sends a mental image to Latias. Then quickly arcing back, Latios flips around to get another run through the wave. Once again diving below the treetops, feathers shifting to bend it's light forward so that Latios may grab it and force it into a beam. In return. Soon the wave was clear, and Latios took to the sky once more. Before the remaining lingering dark-spawn were picked off, Latios prodded Latias' mind and in response began receiving a psychic link allowing Latios to view everything Latias was seeing. She too was just finishing off the stragglers, before taking to the sky, turning to regroup with Latios.
