Infernape [Male]And our eyes cry a million tears.
Keitaro's first Pokémon, received as a Chimchar from his grandmother during his childhood. Amusingly, Infernape's growth has practically mirrored that of Keitaro, remaining a Chimchar through most of his life as a representation of Keitaro's childishness. As Keitaro began to grow and mature, Chimchar evolved into Monferno, though he retained his mischievousness and fondness for pranks. He finally evolved to Infernape during Keitaro's overseas venture to America and now fights shoulder-to-shoulder with Keitaro in melee combat. Out of battle, he is mostly reserved, but still prone to silliness. An example of which being that he has a tendency to pitch banana peels--of which he always seems to have some on hand--under the feet of people to trip them for comedic effect.
Received in Azaela Town.

Ability: Iron Fist
Move Pool: Mach Punch, Taunt, Close Combat, Flame Wheel, Fire Spin, Flare Blitz, Punishment, Feint, Acrobatics, Strength

Kabutops [Male]A creature from a lost eon.
During his tenure in America, Keitaro participated in many archaeological digs, but it wasn't until about halfway through his journey that he excavated an actual viable fossil, during an inland trip to the various fossil sites in the state of Texas. Seta encouraged him to keep and revive the fossil, which has since become a dedicated and loyal member of Keitaro's team, even if he constantly suffers from culture shock. Due to the nature of Kabutops blade-arms, Keitaro avoids using him in most battles, usually only against monsters or in events where it's use him or let one of his friends die. In order to keep Kabutops from feeling useless, Keitaro uses the ancient Pokémon for most of his HM needs.
Excavated in Texas Red Beds Fossil Site.

Ability: Battle Armor
Move Pool: Endure, Aqua Jet, Night Slash, Sand Attack, Smack Down, Scald, Rock Slide, Surf, Waterfall, Cut

UnownAn enigma from another time.
Another of Keitaro's unique archaeological Pokémon, this one was discovered while on a survey of the Sinagua cliff dwellings. While Keitaro was away from the rest of the group, studying one of the rooms and creating a thorough sketch of its interiors, this Unown appeared and started to follow him, initially leading him to think the place was haunted when he caught glimpses of it out of the corner of his eye and it moved things in his immediate surroundings. Theorizing that the Unown, a species of Pokémon known to either have patterned themselves after the Latin alphabet or have had the alphabet created in their image, was drawn to Keitaro because of his artistic skill, Keitaro took the little Pokémon home with him, where he mostly just wanders about the Hinata. He's not entirely useless in battle, as his Hidden Power can surprise any Electric-types that think they've got an edge against his other archaeological 'mons.
Found in Montezuma Castle National Monument, Camp Verde, Arizona.

Ability: Levitate
Move Pool: Hidden Power (Ground)

Relicanth [Male]A fossil from another age.
In recognition of Keitaro's accomplishments as an archaeology student and in celebration of completing his overseas tour, Seta gifted Keitaro a Relicanth shortly before returning to Japan. Keitaro is fond of the living fossil fish because he takes no shit from anyone, and is probably older than the concept of gunpowder. When home at the Hinata, Relicanth's permanent residence is the hot springs, where he moves very little and hardly responds to outside stimuli. That is not a measure of slowness or dull-wittedness, however, as he is capable of startling bursts of speed and has demonstrated trap-construction intelligence.
Received from Seta Noriyasu.

Ability: Rock Head
Move Pool: Water Gun, Rock Tomb, Head Smash, Hydro Pump, Mud Sport, Yawn, Protect, Stone Edge, Rock Smash, Dive

I may fall... wrote:Self-described as plain-looking and un-cute, Keitaro Urashima is an uninteresting guy and formerly a failure as a second-year Ronin, though he is now a successful archaeology student at Celadon University. At one time, Keitaro was in the 48th percentile, bad at English, Math, Social Studies, History, Biology and Sports. However, his reliance and dedication to his dreams and the memory of a promise drives him to continue pursuing the near-impossible task of entering Celadon University; one of, if not the, most prestigious university in Japan.

Honest and hard-working, Keitaro's empathy towards other people and their problems, coupled with a desire and compulsion to help, sometimes causes him to become involved in things he shouldn't be or become entangled in elaborate adventures that cause him to digress from his studies. A notable trait is his nigh indestructibility; able to survive large amounts of damage that lesser people would possibly be killed by. Naru mentioned he was cute without his glasses.

Born in Azaela Town, Johto, Keitaro spent his childhood growing up in the quiet town. In his youth, he knew both Naru Narusegawa and Mutsumi Otohime. It was his childhood friendship with these two girls that would lead to the promise girl event, a day in which he promised Mutsumi that he would go to Celadon University with Naru. Both girls would eventually move away and Keitaro would forget the exact details of his promise, only remembering that he had promised a girl that they would go to Celadon University together. This became Keitaro's driving force in life, and he made it his life's dream to get into aforementioned university. His studying habits, however, were not the greatest, and he wound up flunking the entrance exam three times running. After the second failure, his parents expelled him from his home, unwilling to support him through another year of what they viewed as a fool's errand. With nowhere else to go, Keitaro sought to stay with his grandmother, Hina, at the Hinata Inn on a hill that overlooked Azaela Town. Unbeknownst to him, his grandmother had renovated the inn into a dormitory that--at the time--catered only to female tenants. As it turned out, however, his grandmother had just left on a globe-trotting vacation, explicitly leaving him in charge of the dormitory. Hackles were raised, but eventually he was deemed to be harmless enough to have the position.

Several months passed, full of enough hilarity and shenanigans to fill several volumes. During that first year, an old childhood friend of Keitaro's, Seno Nakakami, came to stay for a time, having been invited by Motoko Aoyama. Within a few weeks, the new swordsman had seen more than he was willing to tolerate of the obvious romantic undertones between Keitaro and Naru, one night taking matters into his own hands and all but forcing Keitaro to confess at swordpoint. Though drastic, these events did prove to greatly improve life around the Hinata, now that the tension that had existed between the two Celadon University hopefuls had vanished practically overnight.

All was not to be sunshine and rainbows, however. A sinister preview of the threat of greater Darkness loomed on the horizon. One evening at the Hinata, with the sun dying in the western sky, a corrupted creature that had once been human, tasked by an unknown agent of the Darkness, arrived in an effort to eliminate Mutsumi as a potential unifying force for human resistance against the Darkness. Fortunately for the watermelon-loving girl, she happened to be in good company at the time, and the ensuing battle saw the creature vanquished, at the cost of above-average damage to the dormitory. Afterwards, she revealed her prophetic nightmares to her friends, giving them fore-warning of what was to face mankind years down the road. This incident became the watershed, the moment when a gaggle of random losers living in an old inn became a crew.

This was five years ago.

In the intervening time, along with training and preparing themselves, life continued for the group that has come to be known as "Kuro Arashi". Keitaro himself finally made it into Celadon University, joining the archaeology program and taking an extended 8-month trip to America with his mentor, Noriyasu Seta. When he returned, he had changed significantly, now trained in the jeet kune do style of martial arts and a less spastic way of life. In his absence, however, his step-sister, Kanako had come to manage the apartments in his stead, her jealousy over Keitaro's love for Naru causing her to attempt to drive them all away. This culminated in the cursed annex of the Hinata, a nexus location housing a tear between the material world and the Astral Plane, where Kanako's desires interacted with the spirits, possessing half of the Kuro crew, forcing Naru and the rest to face a 'boss rush' of their own comrades in order to rescue Keitaro. In the end, Kanako finally recognized Naru's feelings for her step-brother and agreed to step aside.

Almost immediately following these events, Keitaro and Naru became engaged, even if they still haven't married yet. They mutually agreed to wait until they completed college to get married, and they each only have a year to go on their respective degrees.

But now, however, the Darkness has finally made its move, and the Kuro crew is ready to let their years of preparation come to fruition...

But not like this. wrote:Regular Abilities______________________________________

Artistic : One hobby of Keitaro's is sketching, and time dedicated to the random habit has gotten to the point where he can create near-photorealistic drawings of people and places, with the amount of time it takes depending on how many details he's including.

Cooking Partially due to his parents owning a popular confectionery shop, and partially due to never having a girlfriend, and in an effort to save himself from embarrassment, Keitaro used to make his own Valentine's Day chocolates and pretended that they were from a Valentine. Over the years he has become quite adept at making chocolates.

Jeet Kun Do: Having studied extensively under Noriyasu Seta, Keitaro is highly-skilled and adept at the unarmed combat style Jeet Kun Do, making it his preference for fighting. His skill is equal to that of Seta, and superior to any other member of the Kuro crew.

Resilient: As it says on the tin, Keitaro is very resistant to damage, allowing him to shrug off the debilitating effects of things like sword strikes and punches, though it still hurts and he therefore tries to avoid getting hit. He also, of course, has no desire to determine the exact upper limit of his damage resistance. His friends jokingly refer to this as his being immortal.

Ignus Caelesti: Keitaro's main weapon is a pair of combination gauntlet/shotgun called Ignus Caelesti (Heavenly Fire), developed by Kaolla to augment his fighting style. Disguised as a pair of silver-white bracers in their inactive state, when activated, they extend into full-length gauntlets that protect and cover his entire forearms, concealing a rotary chamber that can each carry one belt of a dozen 12-gauge shotgun shells. These shells are triggered by a palm mechanism, allowing him to either use them for increased damage to his strikes or as an impromptu ranged weapon. The section of plate over the top of his right hand bears an engraved artwork of Naru with angel wings.
