Ako's oldest companion, Cultaria was befriended by the girl when she was just entering middle school. The Pokémon was a Happiny then, and has since long evolved into a Blissey. Cultaria takes great pride in helping Ako with her work as a nurse. The Pokémon is very mothering, treating patients as if they were her own kin or children.

Ako's pet from her father, Traumate, or Mate for short, has long been at Ako's side, accompanying her nearly everywhere, given that Cultaria's size limits her transport-ability. Traumate is a bit naive and young, similar to Ako herself, but that doesn't stop the Pokémon from standing up for his owner if she gets picked on or in trouble. The Torchic is often seen riding on Ako's shoulder or in her nurse's cap.
