Blare [Male Blastoise]Well, I'm about as tall as a shotgun, and just as noisy.
A beast of a Pokémon, Blare is the creature that Kayzen has had for the longest. She received him when she was seven. He is not afraid to use the cannons on his shell as a lethal weapon of force. Cool and collected, Blare is not the hothead that he used to be. As a Wartortle, when Kayzen was going through training, he was a lot more willing to break the rules. Not so anymore. Now, he'll do his job, whatever the cost, but he has determination that outmatches even Kayzen's sometimes.
—Received in Austin, Texas from Treyman Hudson.

Ability: Torrent
Nature: Calm
Move Pool: Aqua Tail, Bite, Hydro Pump, Iron Defense, Protect, Rapid Spin, Skull Bash, Surf, Water Pulse, Withdraw

Image
Binary [Porygon2]Computer hacking is not fun and games.
More of a utility than a fighter, Kayzen uses Binary whenever computer or security systems are involved. Binary is technically manufactured with some of the best cracking and override programs the military can buy. Despite its main function being support, though, Binary is capable of at least holding its own in one on one combat with moderate level fighters. If it faces down anyone of a exceedingly high level, though, it typically doesn't hold water. Binary is, in truth, a bit of a clown on its off days.
—Received from the U.S. Navy.

Ability: Adaptability
Nature: Quirky
Move Pool: Agility, Dark Pulse, Hidden Power (Ground), Ice Beam, Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball, Substitute, Thunderbolt, Tri Attack, Trick

Image
Bulwark [Female Bastiodon]Meat shield? Meat is a weak, soft, malleable tissue. I prefer military grade steel.
A newer addition to her team, Kayzen received Bulwark when she went on a dig function to the Altai Mountains in Mongolia. Revived back home, Kayzen has trained Bulwark into the ultimate machine of defense. She is not afraid to take a hit and is more than willing to return the favor. Used mostly as a last resort when things go wrong, Bulwark doesn't see much work in the field. When she does get released, she's mostly there to serve as a distraction while the team extracts. She is then quickly returned via a one-use, long-distance return device that Kayzen attaches to her back.
—Revived in Austin, Texas.

Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Brave
Move Pool: Block, Iron Head, Protect, Roar, Stealth Rock, Stone Edge, Taunt, Torment, Toxic, Toxic Spikes

Bitt [Male Joltik]Yes, a static discharge can trigger that. And yes, I am fucking terrified of detcord.
A Pokémon she "captured" while visiting home before she left for the Navy (in truth, he clung to her and followed her home after a stroll), Bitt helps Kayzen with much of her EOD and high explosives work by making sure now static or electrical charges set off the explosives she works with. Nothing of a fighter, Bitt doesn't often stay put in his Poké Ball. Most often, he rides on Kayz's shoulder or burrows into her clothing. (This often leads to cleavage burrowing.) The Pokémon is still a baby and is very much adorable.
—Captured in the Texas Hill Country.

Ability: Compoundeyes
Nature: Naive
Move Pool: Leech Life, Screech, Spider Web, String Shot, Thunder Wave

Get your eyes off my tits before I make you. wrote:Kayzen stands in at five feet, five inches tall with a moderate built. She has some muscle on her, but she's not the strongest of the bunch. She is within military regulations, of course, and she keeps herself fit. With a crop of brunette hair that falls just a bit past her shoulders (which she pulls up, of course) and brown eyes, Kayzen is pretty basic in appearance. The woman has a full figure with soft curves on it.

When in the field, Kayzen alternates between two sets of power armor (depending on her needs for the mission) and regular military field wear. In any of the typical three sets, one will notice one thing above all: her tendency to load herself with pockets and pouches. She is never without at least ten pouch or pocket compartments on her person, each with their own designated contents. She becomes absolutely miserable when she has to be without these pouches on missions.

When she isn't in the field, she typically wears graphic tees and jeans (in more mild weather) or shorts (in warmer seasons). For training, she switches into a tank top, mens length running shorts and a pair of exceedingly comfortable running shoes. Given Seafoam's tendency to be chock-a-block full of beaches, she is not uncommonly seen in a pair of camo-cargo pants and a bikini top to match. Granted, that only happens well off base, where the likelihood of being around other enlisted folks is somewhat slimmer.

Outside, she is almost never seen without her favorite Aviators.

Rule #45: Any crash you can walk away from is a good one. wrote:Young and full of life and vigor, Kayzen is an all around likeable person. While she has a bit of a mouth on her and can smart of to others every now and then, she does know her place in the food chain, and she'll shut the fuck up around C.O.'s. Coming from the Friendship State means a lot to Kayz. She genuinely likes and tries to get along with everyone... until they give her reason not to. This doesn't mean she won't have her fair share of gruffness and discontent towards those she considers her friends, though.

While she is pretty well versed in technology and gadgetry of the day, she can be a bit slow on the social field. Meaning, sometimes puns, jokes and innuendos fly right over her head and are met with a single, solitary, "What?" Still, you put a brick of C4 in her hand she she'll be your girl. You put a shotgun in her hands... well. She might just marry you. Despite all her reading and keeping-up-to date on Seafoam's tech, though, she has little in the way of field experience, having just really gotten into her career in the military.

Kayzen specifically keeps her job separate from her off-duty life. Her means of compartmentalizing her work from her social affairs is to have a good time. She's not a party animal, but she will sit around in her apartment in her unmentionables and play some good few rounds of Halo or Battlefield. Short of that, she'll devour RPGs in a matter of days if you let her. And heck, if it's sunny, you can catch her at the beach on some evenings, enjoying the last few hours of warmth before the sunset.

Also. Don't fuck with her squad. She has a shotgun and she bloody knows how to use it.

Name: Truman Hudson — You're worth five dollars more if you keep a knife on you.
Age: 70
Gender: Male
Relationship: Maternal Grandfather
Trainer Orientation: Lawful Good
Trainer Class: Gentleman

A veteran of his own right, he raised Kayzen to respect and appreciate the world around her. He is a gruff man now, in his old age and wish the loss of his beloved wife, but he troopers on without much complaint. He worries for Kayz, but he knows she'll do great things in the military and is bloody proud of her.
Image
Name: Rosalyn Hudson — Respect is earned, not given.
Age: 68 (Deceased)
Gender: Female
Relationship: Maternal Grandmother
Trainer Orientation: Lawful Good
Trainer Class: Fun Old Lady

A Navy wife, Rosalyn stayed home to raise Kayz while Treman was military. She passed away not that long ago, to much sadness in her family. She was a good-hearted person with a loving soul and she fully supported Kayz's decision to go into the military.

You know... I come from a rural state. I grew up around guns. As a teenager I had a rifle and shotgun... so... wrote:Kayzen was born to a loving family in the great state of Texas, or, well, rather... loving grandparents. No one knows exactly where Kayzen's mother and father are, and her grandparents remain tight lipped about the matter. Truman, who had served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee, raised Kayzen to respect others around her, especially those who took it upon themselves to enter military service. With a tendency to be a talker, Truman often spent hours just telling stories about his own past to Kayzen.

Throughout her youth, Kayzen would spend her days roughing and toughing it in her grandparent's backyard. She invented stories upon stories, battle upon battle, and would decimate the land and enemies before her in her imagination. When she was somewhere around the age of ten, her grandfather would start taking her hunting with him. While she never quite picked up the love of it that he had, she did find a general like for guns. Starting in high school, her mind made up after spending a good deal of time reading and watching war stories, Kayzen joined ROTC to prepare to join the Navy following her graduation of college.

Graduating in the top twenty percent of her class, Kayzen would enter college shortly after high school. Given she had taken dual credit courses all through her high school career, she was set ahead much of the students around her. Finishing up college by the time she was twenty-two, she excitedly entered the Navy as a commissioned officer. Inherently tech and book smart, she would go through basic training. She considered herself damn lucky to have survived it, too.

Kayzen joined the Navy as a member of an EOD Unit, where she received training befitting of the career field, including advanced improvised explosive ordnance disposal, helo insertion training and jump-master training. Despite receiving said training, Kayzen has only just finished her preparations for this career field... and hasn't actually gotten any field experience, given that she has yet to be sent out. The girl is eagerly awaiting the chance to show and prove her worth, and given that ther knowledge base is vast as fuck, it's unlikely that she'll disappoint.

└-Skills, professions, knowledge and talents.

Eidetic Memory: While she's never gotten it tested, Kayzen and many that know her (and her test scores) assume she has some kind of photographic memory. She reads information very swiftly, on top of that, and can look over imagery and diagrams once and retain most technical information. It isn't foolproof, she can't recall everything, but it's considerably better than most.

├─Classification: Talent
├─Category: Misc.
└─Power Level: Inherent

Demolitions Training: Having received training in the military to be in an EOD team, Kayzen can make and break pretty much any bomb you put in front of her. She is skilled as defusing things and would make a hell of an asset to any EOD team, and she sure as hell can prove her weight in RepSpecWar. She is also well versed in shaping charges and the utilization of C4 to breach and enter hostile buildings.

├─Classification: Talent
├─Category: Knowledge, Skill
└─Power Level: Expert

Knowledge (Military Technology): Kayzen is the "techie" of the group. She is the one who can rewire and infiltrate anything mechanic much more stealthily than blowing a hole into things. When the team needs to insert into a place with high security, it's most likely Kayzen that breaks them in. This over laps with the general knowledge base of military technology she has. ...No, she doesn't spend her spare time reading "instruction manuals" on enemy technology. Whatever do you mean?

├─Classification: Talent
├─Category: Knowledge
└─Power Level: Expert

MOUT: Kayzen spent a long time studying and practicing the necessary skill set for finely tuned close quarters combat ability... but the sad truth is that she has yet to have any field operations and get any actual experience. As such, she is exceedingly well versed on all the tactical and practical knowledge, including, but not limited to: weapons and ammunition most suitable for the mission at hand; accurate explosives, their usage and employment; routines and drills for engaging the enemy, securing a perimeter, clearing a room and team maneuvers. Despite all of this, though, Kayzen has yet to practice any of this in the actual field.

Martial Abilities______________________________________
└-Weapon specializations and fighting styles.

Firearms: All of Kayzen's weapon proficiency amounts to, most accurately: none. Or, well, almost none. I mean, do gun ranges and basic training really count for "proficiency" these days? Granted, she loves and can damn well use her shotgun like a nut case, you put another type of gun in her hand and she's more likely to turn stupid than she is to be able to fire it. Knowledgeable in general about fire arms, she typically has more of a strong suit in the general region of how things work and less of a knowledge in a how things are best used. To but it quiet simply, while she knows of guns and about guns and can load a gun, she may not have an experience firing any guns of the type she has. Chalk it up to her having no field experience.

Do you want a large or small crater; sir? wrote:Weapons_________________________________________________
└-Weapon and munitions.

Benelli M1014: An Italian semi-automatic shotgun, the M1014 fires 12 gauge rounds without the need for the pump action seen on the M870. A reliable and versatile weapon, the M1014 is also equipped with a rail for the mounting of various accessories and an open choke that results in wide pellet spread. Kayzen attaches a holographic sight and a tactical light to her own beloved shotgun.

Beretta M9 Pistol: Formally known as Pistol, Semiautomatic, 9mm, and M9, the M9 was selected as the primary sidearm of the entire United States military in 1985. Developed in Italy, the M9 was selected in a series of often disputed trials, only narrowly beating out other contenders, because of its high quality and low price. The M9 is the primary sidearm of the USMC. Kayzen's comes with an attached tactical flashlight and she also carries a suppressor for when needed.

FN Herstal SCAR-L: The SOF Combat Assault Rifle-Light, or SCAR-L, is a modular assault rifle made by Belgian small arms company Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal (FN Herstal). This is the light assault rifle variant of the SCAR weapon system. The SCAR-L differs from the SCAR-H in that it uses the smaller caliber 5.56x45 NATO round instead of the Heavy variant's 7.62x51mm NATO round. It uses the NATO standard 30 round STANAG magazines. Kayzen attaches a foregrip, heavy barrel and a flash suppressor to her M4. She also uses a Trijicon ACOG sight with it.

SOG SEAL Team 7" Combo Edge Blade: The knife used most heavily by the Navy SEALs. The SEAL Team knife, formerly know as the SEAL Knife 2000, evaluation program included: tip breaking stress, blade breaking limit, sharpness, edge retention, handle twist off force, two week salt water immersion tests, gasoline and acetylene torch resistance, chopping, hammering, prying, penetration tests, cutting six different types of rope and line, plus an intense hands-on competition in the field. In short, this knife can go through hell and back again before it wears down... and Kayzen loves it for that.

U.S. Ordnance M4A1 Carbine: Essentially a shortened version of the M16, the M4A1 Carbine traces its roots to weapons designed for US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) during the Vietnam War. The M4A1 variant is capable of Automatic fire and includes rails that allow the user to equip a large number of accessories. Kayzen attaches a foregrip, heavy barrel and a flash suppressor to her M4. She also uses a Trijicon ACOG sight with it.

Armor___________________________________________________
└-Armor, shielding, and wearables.

HELJUMPR Armor: The Hardened-Enclosed Light Jettison-Utility Multi-Purpose Reactive composite bodysuit armor is made up of several different layers and materials, the inner layer of the black-gray undersuit is made up of Kevlar material to aid in protecting the wearer from small arms fire, the inner layer also contains a heating and cooling system which regulates temperatures to keep the user warm or cool depending on the weather conditions. The heating and cooling system can also match infrared signatures of the current weather as well to allow the wearer to go undetected in hostile locations. The outer layer of the undersuit is coated with a heat resistance material to aid in reducing temperatures. The body suit also doubles as a pressure suit to allow the wearer to perform EVA. The outer shell layer is comprised of titanium and ceramic composite armor plating that covers the chest, shoulders, legs and feet. Typically issued in black with a blue VISR. Given it's name and damn close look to a particular armor from a particular video game, users of it have taken to calling it ODST armor.

R7130 JUGERNAUT Armor: The R7130 Judicious Use Ground Engagement Reactive Nonexplosive All-purpose Urban Terrain tactical heavy assault armor is everything it says on the tin. Developed in the U.S. as their version of the new convention of "power armor," JUGERNAUT armor was specifically designed to be extremely explosive resistant. Taking cue from the armor used by EOD teams, the U.S. developed the armor to provide much of the same protection and then some. While original developments were larger and bulkier and restricted and slowed movement, much like that of an EOD ABS, the newest prototype is lightweight, highly armored (using the same types of Kevlar materials a bomb suit does) and extremely effective. The entire suit is enclosed, allowing the wearer to safely enter unsafe environments and the VISR issued with the suit comes with a standardized filtering breathing apparatus.

RepSpecWar Battle Uniform: A general battle uniform, Kayzen takes bits from other branches and world militaries and adapts them into her own preferred set of general gear. Sourcing mainly from U.S. issued uniforms, she uses an IOTV and a MOLLE rucksack (with enough pouches on it to make most others shake their head in shame). Typically, she doesn't load this to more than she can carry comfortably. She does not use the MOLLE unless the mission is going to be a long one. The fabric of her uniform is flame resistant. She wears standard issue shirts, boots and pants and knee guards. Even without a rucksack, she has a good amount of pouches on her belt, and her pants have extra pockets and pocket room. It effectively gives her something like ten back pockets.

Technology______________________________________________
└-Poké-tech, electronics, and gadgetry.

VISR: Standing for Visual Intelligence System, Reconnaissance, VISR is the program loaded into the helmet of both the JUGERNAUT and ODST armors. The VISR provides tactical data in real time as it is broadcast, and can link into Seafoam infrastructure systems at the local, national, and global network levels, administered on a need or rating basis, allowing the user to store and review up to 610MB of content relevant to the current or all mission objectives. The VISR also provides navigational data, various points of interest in the area, and other important functions. It also includes low-light vision enhancement systems, this raising the brightness of the surrounding area on the user's Heads-Up-Display during night time operations and can also provide friend or foe designation by searching for IFF Transponders on friendly or enemy infantry.

Miscellany______________________________________________
└-Small items, tools, or other important belongings.

Backpack: Mostly generic stuff, but the contents of her MOLLE pack mean everything to her. From first aid implements (something for literally every situation) to survival equipments to radio and contact gear, Kayzen is the go-to girl in the squad for having that one item that finally comes in use. When she is not using the heavier pack, Kayzen uses the pouches on her belt line and ass to contain a good amount of the things she considers necessary. (Mostly first aid, communications equipment and explosives.) Kayzen is fairly good at predicting what one might need in a particular mission, so you can expect her to have it, no matter what set up of pouches or pack she goes with for a given mission. Most things have a designated pouch or pocket, too, so she always knows exactly where each item is in her set up. No matter the mission, Kayzen will carry C4. It's kind of... her thing. She always also carries the necessary equipment for a variety of charges or ways to explode the C4 in her possession.

Leatherman MUT EOD: From cap crimpers, a beefy field blade, and fuse-wire cutters, to a carbon scraper, bolt override tool and a replaceable C4 punch, the Leatherman MUT EOD has everything Kayzen needs in an easy-access configuration for her specialized line of work.

Swiss Army Ranger Pocket Knife: With over 20 implements, the Ranger has everything from a toothpick to a metal file and is designed and constructed with the same great Swiss-made quality all knives are. While Kayzen doesn't swear by her Swiss Army Knife like she does her Leatherman, she still carries it always.

I think Ghost might have an anger problem. wrote:Kayzen grasped the map as Vincent handed over to her and made note of the location.

"Copy all. We'll get it done."

Kayzen gave the map a second glance and then was about to get it across the plane to Sheraden when the bird took a jarring turn. She was thrown against the straps of her harness, the same as Vincent, before being jolted back into the bench with a hard thunk. Her breath was knocked out of her.

She blinked.

No sooner had a second passed than red painted itself across the interior of the C-130's structure. There was yelling and a sudden drop in air pressure from the gaping wounds in the bird's hull. Her eyes fell on the bits of human body that had spattered across the walls. Blood drenched an embroidered patch that read "JACOBS." In the corner, was the unidentifiable mess of body matter.

How had the blood traveled that far? It was on her, it was on the map. It was on the others. There was specks of flesh and other gore mixed in. Fuck, there was almost nothing left of him.

Numbly, her mind registered Vincent yelling at them. Who was Pockets?

Kayzen felt her body being yanked up by the bands of her vest with such a force that it pulled her to her feet. She was brought back to the situation by the resounding thunk of her helmet against Miles's. She tore her eyes from the puddle of a human being to meet the other man's. Brown eyes a startled as a doe's in the headlights met Vincent's scarred green ones.

"Look at me, newbie! We've got to move right fucking now, you got me? You want to die up here, you keep sitting there all fucking timid; you want to do something about this mess, you get your ass off this plane right. Fucking. NOW!"

Kayzen swallowed the tightness in her throat roughly and Vincent gave her a shove forwards. Somewhere, something in her gave in and let what her memories knew to do take over, blocking out what her emotions were pleading and crying out against. Regardless of how she felt, it was now or never.

She looked at Vincent, meeting his eyes again. She gave him a thumbs up.

"I got you."

It was all she could manage.

She shoved the blood drenched map into her vest and pulled the mask over her face. Refreshing air helped her clear her mind. Fucking idiot, should have put the mask on first thing. But that didn't matter now. Training had taught her what to do. Prepared her, step by step, on how to exit the plane, launching herself into the air in free fall, and ease herself into the drop to the unforgiving ground below.

Oh. I'm Pockets.
