Caramel [Female Rapidash] — "Careful, she burns if ya startle her."
Caramel is an entirely new presence in A.J.'s life, a Pokémon she recently purchased from a breeding ranch in the Johto region.  Bought because of the unique palamino-like coloring of the mare, Caramel is a working animal that A.J. uses sometimes for battle, but primarily for a mode of transportation, being far more convenient than the horses she keeps with her at Carver Ranch.  While the normal animals were a bit spooked because of Caramel at first, the Rapidash, then Ponyta was practically adopted by Sadie, one of the mares at the Ranch.  She's been 'in' with the crowd ever since.  Practically, A.J. treats Caramel no different than one would any working animal – well fed, exceptionally well cared for, and as equally loved as any of her animals.  The mobile nature of Caramel means she's with A.J. most of the time, who carries the Pokémon inside a Poké Ball adorned with, you guess it, apples.  Caramel herself has a sweet and patient temperament, always easily following A.J.'s lead, only taking charge when she knows it's necessary.  The relationship between trainer and Pokémon is exceptional, and A.J. recently won a rodeo competition from astride Caramel – a point of great pride for both of them.

Why's everybody lookin' at us like that? wrote:Autumn stands at a robust five feet and ten inches tall without her boots on.  She tops nearly six feet with her trademark cowboy boots.  Like her father and older brother, A.J. has long blonde hair that she keeps pulled back in a long tail behind her.  Her face is dotted with freckles, her wide eyes are a brilliant shade of green, set into a heart shaped face, and she has a healthy complexion that isn't exceptionally pale, but isn't burned to a crisp, either.

She wears a mixture of clothing, everything from flannel shirts and jeans to button ups and soft cotton blouses, she usually also wears a worn cowboy hat, even when it's unnecessary, out of years of habit from working the Carver Ranch.  Though, she's far from a silk and lace kind of gal.  She wears a lot of clothing with apples represented on it, including the necklace that was a gift from the grandmother with whom she shares her name, a trio of apples on a length of leather.

What I'm telling you is the honest truth. wrote:A.J. is just what you'd expect from someone who spent their entire life working the land.  With the ranch taking up a good 80% of her time aside from school when she was younger, rounding up to a solid 100% when she hit 18, A.J. has a very work-oriented mind set.  Those who are familiar with A.J. would describe her as strong, kind, and above all, honest.

She has a very deep love for her family, and has never once regretted her decision to stay and work the Carver Ranch.  When A.J. is close to someone, there is very little she won't do for them if it's within her power, and she never fails to rise to a challenge.  She has a considerable competitive streak, but she tries to keep it friendly, and remember that winning isn't always what every challenge is about.

I've been happily workin' in the farm ever since. wrote:A.J. was born in the fall, four years after her brother, Macintosh, during one of the warmest and longest autumn seasons on record at the time.  The middle child, born ten years before Alyssa, she was always the most active of all of the Carver children.  Being the baby for such a long time, A.J. was not your typical spoiled child, though she was practically Mac's shadow during the entire time she was growing up.

Tagging along in her own shadow was Brandy, a border collie who A.J. used as a working dog there on the ranch.  Brandy was eight weeks to A.J.'s three years old when she was brought home to the girl, and it is one of Brandy's pups that A.J. currently runs with, the original having stretched the 17 year life span of the breed to finally pass away about four years ago.  She was devastated, but Wynona, Brandy's pup, has turned out to be as good a dog as her mother was.

A.J. has always had a knack for the activities involved in being a rancher.  She's steady up a tree picking apples, fast with a pitch fork, skilled with a lasso, as stable on horseback as she is on solid ground, and generally talented with anything involved with the ranch.  There's nothing she can't do, and even if she can't do it, she's willing to try it.

A.J. wasn't the best student at her schools growing up, but she made passable grades.  It was no surprise that she spent most of her time through junior high and high school working the ranch.  She finished her schooling only to set a good example for Alyssa, who was a young'un at the time, and to give her the necessary education to handle the business aspect of running the ranch.

It was no surprise that 'college' was never a popular topic with A.J., even as far as Jack and Maddie were concerned.  The two never pushed, and when A.J. opted to instead take on the full time job of running the ranch, there were no surprised members of her family.  A.J. hasn't always had a splendid life, however, as a really bad run with a man she thought she was in love with ended in a broken heart for the young woman, and a broken face for the young man, after Mac was done with him.

A.J. formally took over Carver Ranch when her parents, Jack and Maddie, retired from Ranching to go traveling.  Her family now consists of her brother Macintosh, who helps co-run the Ranch, Alyssa, who is currently attending high-school, and Granny Smith, her mother's mother, who helps run the ranch, and is responsible for some of the best recipes that come from the Carver Ranch.  She keeps in occasional touch with her cousin, Brayburn, who works his family farm in Texas.

You're a mighty good athlete. I'm just better. wrote:Regular Abilities______________________________________
└-Skills, professions, knowledge and talents.

Cooking: If it involves a Carver family recipe, A.J.'s got experience with it. She learned at the heel of Granny Smith in the kitchen, and is as capable of cooking an elaborate meal as she is baking, mulling cider, or even cooking over an open fire if necessary. Her level of skill varies with the amount of detail that the recipe takes. She helps Granny Smith bake and prepare most of the treats that the Carver family churns out for their festival stalls.

Horseback Riding: A.J. has been riding since she was old enough to get on the back of a horse, first with Mac's help, and then on her own. She's proficient with normal riding, has done some racing, and could probably participate in a rodeo if she wanted to try, though she'd be raw and inexperienced with it at first. She can ride with or without a saddle, and is similarly skilled with horse Pokémon as well. She's recently started to get into racing more heavily, as well as show riding.

Rope Tricks: A.J. has been around a ranch long enough to become a fair hand with a rope.  Learning to wrangle a muddy piglet makes it so that dealing with a person isn't half as hard.  She can also do some of the fancier tricks like stepping through a spinning lasso and other various rope tricks.

Made me sit up proud like a corn stalk in August. wrote:"Durnit Mac, Alyssa, git yer hides down here 'fore you miss breakfast!"  A.J. was turned toward the stove, a skillet in her hands, scrambled eggs inside giving off the pleasant scent of food, a plate of sausage and hotcakes already on the table.

She twisted the knob on the stove to cut the heat beneath the skillet, egg turner swishing through the eggs as she loosened them from the pan to dish up, and immediately raised a brow as she found Mac and Alyssa, who had been absent seconds before, both sitting at the table, holding a fork and knife in either hand, staring at the pan in her hands.

Her expression shifted to one of amusement, and her drawl was slow, almost mocking, as she set the skillet on the table, abandoning it to her ravenous siblings, while she went to fetch a jar of apple jelly from the fridge.

"Well shoot, y'all are actin' like you ain't ate a thing in years."  She chuckled as Mac muttered something to the affirmative between big bites of hotcakes and swigs of milk.  She prepared a plate, and set it aside for Granny, before settling into her own seat to eat – she had a busy day ahead of her, they'd just finished the first harvest for the orchard, and she was bound and determined to do well with it – between the fresh apples and the jelly and preserves they had, she wasn't worried.  It was going to be a good day indeed.
