Verdandi [Female Shiny Florges] — "The inevitable present, I shall muster for you..."
The first of the trifecta of Pokémon that he was gifted with on his tenth birthday, Verdandi was first obtained as a tiny Flabébé. As a shiny blue flower Flabébé, Verdandi is the rarest Pokémon on Aito's team. She's a warm and friendly Pokémon, and, when they're not traveling, Verdandi helps Aito tend the gardens at the Bounsweet Sanctuary, cultivating the various flowers growing around the tract of land.

Apollo [Male Magmar] — "Ruler of the blazing sun."
The second of the trifecta of Pokémon that he was gifted on his tenth birthday, Apollo was obtained as a Magby. Apollo is the cornerstone of Aito's team, along with being one of the only two male Pokémon that Aito has obtained. The Pokémon can be somewhat surly when disturbed while sun bathing, and he often acts grumpy towards the other Pokémon, though this hides a fiercely protective nature. Apollo would gladly interject himself between danger and any of the other members of Aito's team.

Maia [Female Lunatone] — "I am the brilliant mother, Maia."
The last of the trifecta of Pokémon that Aito received on his tenth birthday. Maia is the quiet strength of the trio and serves as a balancing point between Apollo and Verdandi. She is a politely quiet Pokémon, rarely causing any waves. She's a mothering sort, who fusses over any of the other Pokémon in Aito's team.

Demeter [Female Steenee] — "Let me plant the seed of love in you."
The second of the Bounsweet that Aito rescued, Demeter is somewhere between Gaia and Persephone in strength. She's a sweet Pokémon with a stern hand that, in Gaia's absence, will take up residence in the Sanctuary and protect the Bounsweet there. When out traveling with Aito, she's consistently hovering over Persephone and fussing at Aito when he tries to use the little Bounsweet in battle.

Charon [Male Mimikyu] — "Come, cross the river."
An interesting addition to Aito's team, Charon is a serious, quiet, and withdrawn little Pokémon who ultimately just wants attention and affection. And Aito coaxes and spends time with the Pokémon as frequently as he can. Charon's favorite time is spent at the Bounsweet Sanctuary, however, where the dozens of little Bounsweet who are familiar with him will happily flock to and spend time with the otherwise frightening little Pokémon.

Persephone [Female Bounsweet] — "Without her, the earth grew barren."
Tiny and adorable, Persephone is as much a pet Pokémon as she is a battler Pokémon, and primarily, she's the former. Aito carries her with him simply to take care of her, and she's probably the most pampered of all of the Bounsweet that Aito has possession of. The daughter of Demeter, and named for that connection, Persephone is a happy and bouncy little Pokémon. She enjoys spending her time on Aito's shoulder and swaying with whatever music he's either playing, or listening to.

Gaia [Female Tsareena] — "I am become the foundation of the Earth."
The first of the Bounsweet ever rescued by Aito, Gaia is the strongest of the Sanctuary denizens and the protector of the Bounsweet residing in the Sanctuary. A den-mother to the rest of them, Gaia herds her little flock of Bounsweet, keeping them safe from any predators that might slip past the man-made barriers that Aito uses to keep the Sanctuary clear, and otherwise helping the other employees at the Sanctuary with their efforts in keeping the Bounsweet happy and well cared for. Gaia is sweet-tempered thanks to Aito's guiding hand and loves her trainer dearly, even if the man now spends more time traveling than he does with her. He will rarely leave behind Demeter and take Gaia with him, but those are rare occurrences.

Bounsweet (x???) — "Ah~! Help!!"
Aito knew he was sunk the first time he ever saw a Bounsweet fleeing from another Pokémon. After the first three rescues: Gaia, Demeter, and Persephone, he ended up rescuing an entire slew of the small Pokémon. So many that he founded the Bounsweet Sanctuary as a placement rescue to put Bounsweet into the hands of trainers who would care for them properly. Most of his Bounsweet were rescued in the wild, and he pours much of his energy when not performing or practicing, on tending to, caring for, and spending time with the many little fruit-shaped Pokémon. The Bounsweet are cared for and permitted the run of the Sanctuary, cared for either by Aito himself, or one of the other Sanctuary employees, with great care taken to keep predators, such as the Toucannon, away.

Aito is roughly average in height, standing at a respectable 5’8”, and has a somewhat willowy, only slightly toned build. His hair is naturally dirty blonde, but is usually dyed some shade of blue, and rarely some variation of purple. His eyes are bright gold, something that stands out against the vastly different shade of his hair, potentially why he dyes his hair the way he does. He does have one birthmark of note, a beauty mark just under his left eye, usually hidden by the way his layered hair curves around his face.

When it comes to clothing, he favors blues, blacks, and sometimes white, but he’ll wear anything that he thinks is comfortable. He has several piercings in his ears, and wears a few various beaded necklaces around his throat. He paints his nails various shades of blue and just generally likes to stand out. When he’s at home, he has a pair of glasses that he sometimes wears, though he usually only wears them to look cool – the lenses don’t actually do anything, and they’re not prescription.

Despite not smoking, he has a silver lighter that he carries with him, and when nervous or anxious, will flick the top open and closed repeatedly, until he calms down.

Aito grew up in a very non-traditional family home and that has had a lot of influence on his personality. He has a slight shyness when caught off guard and a deference and even nervousness when dealing with strong or particularly forceful women. He rarely instigates a conversation and instead usually has to be approached. Despite his status as a musician, he doesn’t actively seek out a lot of attention, and prefers to keep himself flying under the radar, if he can. Naturally a quiet and somewhat more introvertive person, Aito can be somewhat reluctant to allow people close to him, even if he is, on the surface, friendly once you get him past his initial shyness.

Like anyone, Aito has his limits, and when they’re pushed, he’ll respond in kind. He doesn’t like leaping to violence, however. He has something of a knight complex, but only where Bounsweet are concerned, having fallen so in love with the Pokémon breed that he uprooted his life after his teen years to move to Alola and found a Sanctuary to keep the little Grass Pokémon safe from their more natural predators.

When it comes to business, Ai is usually fairly focused, spending his time either tending to and caring for the Bounsweet at the Sanctuary, spending time training with his own personal Pokémon, or practicing music. His career outside the Sanctuary can keep him fairly busy, but he has only one record, and it isn’t widely circulated.

Aito's biological father, Jun Kurosu, is a bit eccentric, but also warm and doting towards his son. Everything that Aito knows about flowers, the flower language, and caring for the Bounsweet, ultimately comes from Jun. The two have trouble communicating at times, in part because of Jun’s perceived femininity, but Aito doesn’t love his father any less for his odd way of thinking and behaving.

Tatsuya Suou is the ‘cool’ father, and Aito has a bit of idol worship going on where he’s concerned. As the main masculine influence in Aito’s life, Tatsuya always tried to include Aito in the things he was doing: from repairing his motorcycle to recording albums for Gas Chamber, even teaching the young man how to fight and defend himself. Whenever Aito needs a parent who won’t constantly ‘parent’ him, Tatsuya is the one he spends time with.

The disciplinarian of the group, Reiko is stern and strict, but loving. Reiko and Aito have a somewhat more distant relationship than he does with either of his fathers, though not due to anything Reiko has done in particular. A psychotherapist, her lessons are partially responsible for Aito’s patience when dealing with troublesome or difficult situations.

Aito Kurosu was born in Vermilion City to Jun Kurosu, Reiko Hiiragi, and Tatsuya Suou. Aito’s home life was about as average – or about as far from average – as you can get. He was raised in a very non-traditional household, given the fact that he had one mother, and two fathers. Having been homeschooled by his mother for the first few years of his education, he didn’t have a lot of exposure to other children to know that his family situation was ‘different’.

Despite the differences though, each of his parents had their own unique place in Aito’s early development. His mother was the disciplinarian, guiding him with a firm, if somewhat stern, hand. His birth father was far gentler and encouraged in him a warmth and compassion that helped mold his actions later in life. His other father was the strong masculine influence in his life, and was in many ways Aito’s role model.

The first ten years or so of Aito’s life was spent either taking lessons from one of his parents, or accompanying one of them during their work. His father Jun ran a flower and fortune shop, his mother Reiko was a licensed psychotherapist and owned a psychotherapy shop in the city, and his other father Tatsuya was a guitarist for his friend Eikichi Mishina, in his band, Gas Chamber.

At seven years old he was already well into developing a preference for music and poetry, while still finding great enjoyment in creating floral arrangements, and mixing incense blends. By his ninth birthday, Aito, by now quite proficient with the guitar, helped Gas Chamber record one of the songs for their first album. He was credited on the album as Ai Hiiragi, something that still gets him ribbed by Eikichi from time to time. He’d developed most of his hobbies by this point: poetry, floral arrangements, playing guitar, singing, cosplay, and video games. He was about as well-rounded as anyone could expect, though he’d begun to develop some of the more quiet tendencies of his birth father as well, lending to his more introvertive nature.

At ten years old, Aito was gifted his first three Pokémon by his parents, one from each of them. A Magby from Tatsuya, a Lunatone from Reiko, and a Flabébé from Jun. These Pokémon because the center of his world for a short period of time, and, when Aito wasn’t being given lessons, he was out on the fringes of the city, training with his Pokémon and becoming familiar with them. He became practically inseparable from the Pokémon, especially Verdandi, who started spending all of her time out of her Poké Ball and perched in a pocket on the front of his shirt.

At twelve years old, Aito sang his first duet with Tatsuya for the second Gas Chamber album, and his life began to shift and move from there. He finally enrolled in public school to start getting appropriate education credits, which is where he met Masaru Nanjo, the boy who would become his best friend. They were practically joined at the hip most of the time, and it was Masaru who gifted Aito with the blue scarf that is usually part of his cool weather clothing, and part of his outfit when performing with Gas Chamber.

At fifteen, he had his first crush, first girlfriend, and first heartache, all with a girl whose name he no longer even remembers. At seventeen he graduated High School and indefinitely postponed his shot at college, much to his mother’s dismay. Instead, he started traveling around the world, looking for inspiration for his music, hoping to launch a career independent of the few guest bits he did for Gas Chamber. It was his skill with the guitar which finally got him off the ground, and he started rolling out love songs under the name ‘Ao’. His first album, Blue, was good enough that it gave him a cushion that would hold him for years.

That really came in handy after the first time he visited Alola during a family vacation at nineteen. He and his parents were strolling along when he saw his first Bounsweet. It wasn’t until he saw the Toucannon chasing after the small fruit-shaped Pokémon that he realized it was in danger. He rescued it, that Bounsweet becoming Gaia, the adorable little ball that eventually turned into his Tsareena. But one Bounsweet eventually became two, which eventually became three, which eventually became dozens.

Needing a place to house them all, Aito turned the modest wealth he’d made from his music over the years into a reserve fund, and started the Bounsweet Sanctuary. A place intended to keep them safe from their natural predators until trainers could be found, and just generally a place where they could live in relative safety. His goal isn’t to save every Bounsweet on Alola, but instead those Bounsweet who he finds injured, struggling, or abandoned.

The sanctuary has been running for the last four years, with Aito still releasing an album every two years as Ao, and his travels taking him all over the world, where he’s gained the remainder of his competent team. With the world changing, though, Ao is doing what he can for the rest of the world: holding charity concerts, volunteering for cleanup after Darkspawn attacks leave areas devastated, and just generally doing his best to contribute in a rapidly changing world.

Mixed Martial Arts: Aito was taught to fight by both his fathers, and as such, uses a martial arts style that is a mix of Akido and Jiu-jitsu. The training is something he's been learning off and on since his youth, so he has a good degree of skill and can defend himself easily, but he's not anywhere near mastery level with either martial style.
