Edelweiss [Female Wartortle]Clean and bright, you look happy to meet me.
Tyler has had Edelweiss since he was ten. Excited to receive her, he took her back to Cerulean. He and Edelweiss spent many weeks simply getting to know one another and Tyler spent a long time simply sketching her out. She is, without a doubt, very attached to him and is perhaps his most trained Pokémon. Edelweiss is very protective of Tyler and his ambitions, often scolding Lios when the Rhyhorn tries to get into a fight with passing Trainers. She feels that Tyler should pursue his own path, rather than that of a Trainer.
—Received in Pallet Town from Professor Oak.

Ability: Torrent
Nature: Modest
Move Pool: Aqua Tail, Bite, Bubble, Iron Defense, Protect, Rapid Spin, Skull Bash, Water Gun, Water Pulse, Withdraw

Image
Nocturne [Female Beedrill]Music is love in search of a word.
Ty befriended Nocturne as a Weedle as he passed back through Viridian Forest after first receiving Edelweiss. Nocturne is known to hum her wings in song and she's actually very pleasant for a Beedrill. She dislikes the typical stereotype that her kind receive and does her best to remain a nice individual. All in all, she's much more laid back than those of her other brethren.
—Befriended in Viridian Forest.

Ability: Swarm
Nature: Docile
Move Pool: Fury Attack, Pin Missile, Pursuit, Toxic Spikes, Twinneedle

Image
Aesop [Male Clefable] - No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
Finding Aesop when the creature was only a Cleffa, Tyler raised Aesop from a young age and they have been close friends ever since. Aesop is very friendly and often gets himself into trouble with Pokémon that aren't. He likes to use Metronome at random though, so watch out! Aesop is a fluffy ball of love, something of a pillow for Tyler to lay on when he's in need of comfort.
—Captured on Route 4.

Ability: Magic Guard
Nature: Rash
Move Pool: Defense Curl, Doubleslap, Metronome, Sing, Wake-up Slap

Image
Suika [Female Ponyta]When one has tasted watermelon he knows what the angels eat.
Suika is very much the clown of Tyler's party. Tyler met her when he begged his parents to take him to the Safari Zone. Suika was interested in Tyler, but more so his drawing pad. The first picture Tyler drew of her is missing its corner, as the Ponyta chewed it off in curiosity. She is the type that will turn over a rock or log in curiosity to figure out what is underneath them, if anything.
—Captured in the Kanto Safari Zone.

Ability: Flame Body
Nature: Quirky
Move Pool: Ember, Flame Wheel, Stomp, Tackle, Tail Whip

Image
Gacha [Male Exeggutor]Rattle, rattle, cute!
Gacha is another of the three Pokémon that Tyler found while at the Safari Zone. Suika and Gacha are very close friends, and, after Suika made up her mind to go with Tyler back to Cerulean, Gacha followed after her. Gacha is in a word... innocent. He's playful like a young child, even as his evolved form. Gacha evolved by accident when Tyler visited the Celadon Department Store and the then Exeggcute tumbled into a bin of evolutionary stones.
—Captured in the Kanto Safari Zone.

Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Naive
Move Pool: Bullet Seed, Hypnosis, Leech Seed, Reflect, Uproar

Image
Lios [Male Rhyhorn]Apeiron, King of Light, beckons...
The last of Tyler's Pokémon, Lios is one of the only ones in his party that actually takes battles with a certain degree of seriousness. Tyler befriend him after the Rhyhorn mistook Tyler as attacking him. Lios eventually followed Tyler along with Suika and Gacha. When Tyler's in a fix, Lios always gets him out. Lios has a tendency to bust out of his Poké Ball when the prospect of a battle is imminent.
—Captured in the Kanto Safari Zone.

Ability: Rock Head
Nature: Serious
Move Pool: Aqua Tail, Earthquake, Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Megahorn, Rock Blast, Rock Polish, Stone Edge, Substitute, Thunder Fang

Love the art in yourself — not yourself in the art. wrote:Tyler is a bit of an oddball. At a young age, he dyed his hair a bright lavender purple. His hair cut is a generic loose boy style and his bangs often get in his eyes. He's known to use barrettes to keep them out of his face while he draws. His eyes themselves are a forest green flecked with hazel. He stands about five feet, seven inches tall.

Attire-wise, he wears a gray jacket, which is decorated with a black cross on the chest and black trim. His jeans are dark blue wash with black sides stitched on them. His boots are sturdy leather, black in color and are steel soled. His belt matches both his boots and his jacket. Under his jacket, though it's normally zipped up, is a blue and black shirt, matching his jeans. He also has a black messenger bag, which is rectangular and can hold his art box.

I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster... and leaves less room for lies. wrote:Tyler is, to put it shortly, different. He's never been physically strong and other boys have always made fun of him for all but failing his P.E. classes. He doesn't really care though, because he chooses to follow his heart and do what he loves. While a tad shy, he's desperate to make friends and forces himself to converse with people.

Loving art as much as he does, Tyler doesn't much care for battling. He does understand it, and partakes it in sometimes (usually with Edelweiss and Lios), but doesn't have much heart for the task. He's a pretty fearless when it comes to exploring, though, and is always looking for new places to stake out to draw.

I drew my family so I would have a picture of them. Then I realized I only had to look up to see them around me. wrote:

Name: Yale Arden — Suspicion always haunts the guilty mind; the thief doth fear each bush an officer.
Age: 39
Gender: Male
Relationship: Father
Trainer Orientation: Lawful Good
Trainer Class: Officer

Yale is Tyler's father and he's very proud and thrilled of his son's artistic talent. Yale works as a night guard and patrols the area of northern Cerulean along the bridge. He takes his job very seriously, and, with the help of his trusty Arcanine, they root out and ill-doers in the area.
Image
Name: Margret Arden — Pillars of salt and pillars of sand...
Age: 38
Gender: Female
Relationship: Mother
Trainer Orientation: Neutral Good
Trainer Class: Pokémon Daycare Attendant

An attendant at the Pokémon Daycare south of Cerulean, Margret loves raising Pokémon in general. That love comes partly from how much she loves to nurture her son's interests. She loves to see young people thrive and succeed at their dreams.

All art requires courage. wrote:Growing up in Cerulean, Tyler found his affinity for art at an early age. He got into his mother's old box of paint when he was three. And while the picture he painted that day was indeed upon a wall, his parents saw that he loved what he was doing in a different way than a normal three-year-old. He was seriously concentrating on the artwork.

After that, they purchased him an art box, which he still has today, though it's extremely battered up and he should buy a new one. All through out his youth he spent his time drawing and focusing on art instead of sports like the other boys in his class. The jests never phased him and he followed his heart. His art ability grew through the years. Eventually he decided what he would do: he would be a Pokémon Watcher. He had never cared for battles the way the other kids did, and, whenever one came on TV, he would always focus on the beauty and look of the Pokémon rather than who was winning or losing.

Excited like any other child would be on his tenth birthday, his parents took him to Pallet Town. There he met Professor Oak and the man congratulated him on his chosen path given that Oak was a bit of a Watcher himself. Tyler ended up with Edelweiss and he couldn't have been happier. He rarely keeps the little lady in her Poké Ball.

On the way back to Cerulean, he got his parents to take him through Viridian Forest, where he met Nocturne. Back home, Weedle and Squirtle with him, he idled away his years, eventually also meeting Aesop. On this fifteenth birthday, his parents took him on a trip to the Safari Zone. There he managed to meet and befriend the last three Pokémon in his team. Now with a full team of six, some of which evolved over the years, Tyler continued to draw the Pokémon in the wild around his home town.

It had never occurred to him to travel far beyond, into the distance. But... perhaps one day...

Without art... the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable. wrote:If there was one thing that Tyler Arden loved more than the Pokémon in this world, it was his favorite pencil. And that was why, even though he'd failed miserably in every Physical Education class he'd ever taken, he was running like a Rapidash upon the plains of the Safari Zone.

"Come baaaaaaaack!"

All he had wanted to do was sketch some of the natural Pokémon of Mt. Moon. All he had wanted was to spend a few hours in peace in the murky darkness of the cavern, working from a flash light, his sketch pad in his lap. But life was simply so cruel as to throw him into the fire, wasn't it?

Edelweiss ran on all fours at his side, her blue feet pattered against the rocky ground. Her mouth was open as she panted. They had been chasing their culprit since it has snatched his pencil down on the lower basements of the cave, near the Cerulean exit. His steel soles made a clatter on the earth, much like someone had filled a trash can with empty soda cans and sent it rolling down a hill.

Air burned his lungs like a wildfire and he stumbled, falling to his knees. He clenched the earth before him and closed his eyes. Breathing came in large, unsteady and harsh gasps.

Edelweiss paused only a moment. She, too, hurt and had been running just as fiercely as her Trainer. She furrowed her brow and nodded grimly. She would get Tyler's pencil or Arceus damn her! She raced forward with one last burst of speed, skidding around the corner and leaving Tyler out of sight.

A bright white star of light shot past her head. She froze in terror. But the Swift attack missed her. And... and instead had hit the Zubat that had stolen Tyler's pencil! Legends be blessed! With a cry of her name, she raced forward and leapt over the bodies of the fainted bats. She grinned and stood, clasping the drawing utensil in her hand with a look of triumph.

"Wartortle!"

And then she blinked... Claws? She looked up and fell back on her shell. A S-skarmory?! She spun on her back in circles, flailing her stubby legs. As her world twisted in circles, she also caught the glimpse of two humans and... some type of Pokémon she had never seen before. She flailed her legs and righted herself, clutching the pencil nervously.

"W-wartortle...?"
