A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work. wrote:

Toed [Female Politoed]There's no half-singing in the shower, you're either a rock star or an opera diva.
Toed has been with Fisher since the day he was born. She is like a sister to him and would do anything and everything for him. She is playful and a bit of a clown, but always ready to stop the goofy act and put up a fight when she needs to. In battle, she's best as a hit and run artist, not as good at taking hits as Wrath is. Mostly, she fights with the notion that opponents moves best not hit at all. She refuses to be in her capsule and walks along side Fisher at all times, even sleeping with him.
—Hatched in the Fight Area.

Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Jolly
Move Pool: Encore, Hidden Power (Grass), Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Protect, Psychic, Refresh, Return, Surf, Toxic

Image
Wrath [Male Poliwrath]Hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.
Unlike Toed, Wrath is all fight and no play. He's determined to prove himself again and again to Fisher as the best battler on the boy's team. Wrath doesn't give a bit of slack when he's in battle, and Fisher often relies on the Pokémon for tougher fights. A fully capable fighter, Wrath's battle strategy is to hit hard and fast, before the enemy can see it coming. He can be a bit carried away sometimes, though...
—Captured on Route 227.

Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Rash
Move Pool: Brick Break, Bulk Up, Encore, Focus Punch, Hypnosis, Ice Punch, Return, Rock Slide, Substitute, Waterfall

Image
Whirl [Male Poliwhirl]Spend lazy, carefree days in the shade.
Fisher captured Whirl by chance. The smaller than normal Poliwhirl is a bit of a lazy thing, and he often falls asleep when he has nothing to entertain him. He's not fond of battles or of evolving, and Fisher sees no need of pressuring him into either. As such, he hasn't been trained that much and isn't as battle ready as Toed or Wrath. Mostly, Fisher uses him as a very froggy pillow.
—Captured on Route 227.

Ability: Damp
Nature: Relaxed
Move Pool: Brick Break, Hypnosis, Ice Punch, Return, Waterfall

Image
Poli [Female Shiny Poliwag]I am a zizzer zazzer zuzz as you can plainly see.
Reeling in this strange colored Poliwag, Fisher caught her without batting an eyelash. She's playful and cheerful, much like Toed. She looks up to the Politoed as a mother figure, almost, and follows Toed's battle strategy better than Toed herself. Poli is very good as avoiding attacks and using her speed to her advantage, which can be entirely frustrating for opponents. She can often be found playing with Wag.
—Captured on Route 228.

Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Bashful
Move Pool: Body Slam, Encore, Hypnosis, Ice Beam, Mud Bomb, Rain Dance, Return, Surf, Wake-Up Slap, Waterfall

Image
Wag [Male Poliwag]It always seems impossible until its done.
Wag is a bold little guy and he's bound and determined, like Wrath, to prove himself a fighter, even if he has a long way to go. Not having actually reeled the little guy in, Fisher was at first reluctant to add him to his team, but eventually obliged when he realized what a spirit the little critter had. Wag is pretty well rounded, build wise, and hasn't yet decided if he would be better at speed fighting or power fighting... though he might just turn out to be an entirely new deck of cards.
—Befriended on Route 227.

Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Bold
Move Pool: Body Slam, Hypnosis, Mud Bomb, Return, Surf

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. wrote:Fisher stands about five feet and eleven inches tall with shaggy, spiky brown hair. His eyes are a piercing green and he almost always can be seen with his red baseball cap with a black lip, which he keeps turned backwards. He wears a chain around his neck that dons the first fishing lure Angler ever gave him.

Attire-wise, he wears a long sleeved green shirt with a tan, leather vest over top of it. This vest has a number of pockets on it, in which he keeps his lures, Poké Balls and other items. His hands are clad in heavy leather gloves. He also wears plain black slacks and red shoes. His belt is also red. He can always be seen with his fishing rod, which is silver and grey in color.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after. wrote:Fisher is laid back and calm. He is content to spend his days idling away, fishing in every body of water he comes across. He is not one to pick a fight and he'll often walk away from them. When he does get angry, he explodes. Mind, it takes quite a bit to tick him off in this manner and often times Toed will calm him down before this happens. His anger can be vitriolic, though, and he's not afraid to scathe people good.

Not normally scared of anything, Fisher typically keeps his cool under stressful or nerve-wracking situations. He does have a sort of irrational fear of bugs, however, and he avoids the creatures like a plague (to the extent he'll lock doors and windows for good measure). He also isn't very good at communicating with people in that he's just not plain good at conversation. He prefers quiet and is a downright introvert.

Name: Angler King — I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering trout...
Age: 48
Gender: Male
Relationship: Father Figure
Trainer Orientation: Chaotic Neutral
Trainer Class: Fishing Guru

Not actually related to the boy he calls son, Angler is just the person that happened to find Fisher when he was still a babe, swaddled up and washed up on the shores of Route 225, just north of the Fight Area where Angler lives. Angler cares for Fisher a great deal and has taught Fisher everything he knows about the art of fishing.

I love fishing. You put that line in the water and you don't know what's on the other end. Your imagination is under there. wrote:Fisher doesn't know where he was born or who his real parents are and he's content to let that be. He was found as a child on the shores of Route 225 by one Angler King, who took the babe and the small Poliwag egg that was with him back to his cottage in the Fight Area. There, Angler raised Fisher as his own son.

Fisher grew up to enjoy his father figure's craft of fishing and he's never without his fishing rod. At a young age, Fisher bonded swiftly with the Poliwag that was with him, a small rambunctious female with a bit of a sisterly/motherly complex towards Fisher. This Poliwag would eventually evolve into a Polewhirl and, after Fisher was gifted with a King's Rock by Angler, a Politoed. Toed has always been Fisher's constant companion.

On his tenth birthday, Fisher received his first brand new fishing rod from Angler. A shiny silver affair with good distance. He still has it, though he's long since upgraded parts of it to make it a better handle. He is never without his fishing rod and he spends most of his time fishing period.

Nowadays, Fisher has traveled away from home and is currently exploring the regions. He keeps a log of everything he's hooked, but he rarely, if ever, keeps what he catches, only having his Poli-Team to this day.

Calling fishing a hobby is like calling brain surgery a job. wrote:The crisp mist of the morning lingered on his arm, beading on the skin. He twitched his hand, the little fly at the end of his line flicking in the movement. Another twitch, a fluid motion. The faux insect danced along the water's surface, lighting on and teasing the water like the real thing might. The rising sun glinted across the crystal clear waters. His mind, his soul and heart, were at ease as he fell into the motions of his profession.

Toed perched on the edge of the shore with him, her eyes following the bait of the fishing rod, but her body altogether remaining motionless. In truth, to the passerby, the only thing in motion was the bait itself. Even the fisherman stood sentinel, barely moving except for the motion of his arm to tease the rod around.

Then, in one solitary instance, that all changed.

A sudden splash and violent thrashing of water. A jerk of line and Fisher bracing his grip and arm twice fold. The bait had been taken, the hook set. He reeled, pulling on the line in expert fashion. He applied just enough force, letting up and allowing his catch the length of the line when he knew the string might snap. A ten minute struggle, a ten minute ballet of fisherman and fish fighting for victory, ending in the form of one beautiful glistening Finneon dangling from his line.

Fisher smiled, admiring the beautiful creature. He stroked her lightly, then took notation and a photo of the catch. Unhooking her and setting his rod aside, he waded out into the water. His hands, gentle around her wavering body, lowered her into the clear shallows. For a moment, he held them there, marveling in the sheer power of aquatic life between his fingertips. Then, he released his hold. For a moment, she stalled, then she swam violently away.

The fisherman watched her go as Toed waded up next to him, placing her hand on his boot. He smiled down at the Politoed.

"C'mon, Toed. Let's find another spot to try out."
