King [Male Nidoking]: King was Soa's first Pokémon. Having been one of the large amount of Nidoran his family had bred, this one was by far Soa's lifelong favorite. His family had a tradition of taking one of the unmarked (they didn't know what type of Pokémon egg it was) eggs, and letting their kids raise it till it hatched. Soa's had been a Nidoran, and thus it became his first Pokémon right from the get go. Nidoran would be taught alongside Soa how to breed, raise, and treat Pokémon. Thus, Nidoking could probably manage the whole place himself if need be. However he was also trained to battle in case harm came to any of the many small, young Pokémon.
Image
Heph [Male Arcanine]: Heph was another one of the Pokémon Soa raised on the center. Heph grew up being taught similarly to a watchdog, and since grew protective and obedient. Heph usually can be seen making rounds around the breeding grounds, and keeping an eye over visitors and guests, though he is incredibly friendly when not threatened, and loves getting petted.
Image
Blest [Male Banette]: Blest used to sneak onto the breeding grounds, and cause mischief while it was still just a Shuppet. Eventually Soa had to deal with this, so he had camped out on the grounds all night, hoping that the Shuppet would come try to scare him instead, which he had succeeded in doing numerous times through the night, but Soa never ran off and put up a brave face. Eventually, Shuppet ran out of tricks, and appeared to the brave boy in his true Shuppet-y self. Since then Soa had took the Shuppet in, and introduced him to the Shuppet he himself was breeding. Blest eventually evolved, and now uses his trickiness and knowledge of the grounds to keep a lookout and thwart trespassers.
Image
Dopple [Genderless Ditto]: Dopple was one of many Ditto Soa had ended up collecting to open a whole new branch in breeding, however Dopple was a much more aggressive Ditto than Soa was used too. Dopple would transform into a Pokémon, and then immediately try to challenge it trying to see if his form could beat the real deal. This attitude brought on special attention from Soa, and while trying to calm Dopple's nature, he ended up making a pretty close friend of him as well. Now, Dopple is a permanant member of Soa's team, especially when he goes out on trips.
Image
Hesti [Female Blissey]: Chansey often helped the family raise the eggs and young Pokémon at the center, as there were a lot of them to tend to, so Happiny were bred especially for this purpose. Hesti was just a Happiny when Soa started learning the family trade, and together they learned how to care for the Pokémon. As per usual, Happiny evolved into a Chansey, and continue learning the trade alongside Soa, eventually looking up to Soa, and was overwhelmed with joy when he took on running the place for himself. Soon, Chansey evolved into a big happy ball of love and comfort, Blissey. Since then, Hesti is practically unseperatable from Soa, and acts like his assistant and helper in whatever it is he is doing. He's once been told even Nurse Joys were jealous of their cooperation.
Image
Lump [Male Snorlax]: Lump was hatched personally by Soa, and eventually it became quite the tough little Munchlax, fighting over food, and winning a good handful of those fights. Soa questioned how to deal with Lump, and eventually he passed him over to his younger brother to train him. Having heard that Lump was doing quite well with Rich, eventually, Lump returned home to the breeding center, a lot tamer and relaxed as a Snorlax, but is still just as strong and hearty as ever. Lump now helps out on occasion and is more or less the big heavy brute of the team if need be.

Sleep? Sleep is for those who aren't already living their dreams! wrote:He is a tall man, 6'5'', or about 196 cm. Though he isn't very built, and is rather thin. He has light colored skin, and dark hair, which tends to look a bit rough and unkempt. His eyes are like a deep ocean blue color, as though you were in the depths looking upwards towards the surface, and almost always look tired and restless. These eyes are almost always seen through the lens of his thin-framed glasses. He was one of the rare few who actually really liked glasses, and even wore them with fake lenses just because he thought they made him look smart. Even now people question if they are real or not. He seems to carry himself in a bit of a comfortable, and happy way, while he always watches where he steps, he at the same time doesn't seem too cautious of himself. He always looks like he is ready to smile, especially when he is working.

Other than his glasses, and just like his hair, his clothes are also simple and professional. Despite often doing field work, he wears light and comfortable slacks, like you'd see a professor, or an office working wearing, along with a dress-shirt, fit with a plain simple vest. However, while he is doing field work, he often keeps his slacks and sleeves rolled up, and wears a NestBall patterned apron, swapping his usual slip-on black shoes with hiking boots.

What do you mean I don't get out much? I work outside all the time! wrote:Soa almost seems too happy all of the time. Even when things go wrong, while he gets worried, he never seems to panic, as if he expects things to always be fixed. The only time anyone has seen his demeanor really change is if one of his many young Pokémon he cares for gets hurt. Even then he keeps a smiling face, to help comfort the Pokémon as he cares for them. He is the type of person people might think of whom loves everything about what they do and has their life completely in check. Though he himself seems like he is always forgetting something, and floundering around trying to keep that balance in his life. He doesn't tend to let people know just how difficult it is to do his job, but he likes it that way. He likes the curiosity and praises his kind of work earns, and he doesn't want to tarnish it.

Other than that, he also worries a lot about his younger brother who is often out on journies looking for rare Pokémon, and he just loves it when he sends a few rare ones back for him to breed and care for. Personally, Soa craves a bit of adventure from his normal life from time to time, so once in a while, he goes out on a field trip to quell that learning of adventure.

Soa tries to make sure he is polite and happy around people, especially those he both works with, and those who visit his breeding center. While he does grow attached the many of the Pokémon under his care, he loves letting them go and be happy living a life with a trainer, or even in the wild if that's what the Pokémon wants. He always tries to put the wishes of the Pokémon first and foremost on his grounds, and while that sometimes can make things hard for him, he never minds it, and would rather lose a client than force a Pokémon to do something.

Lastly, he loves discovering things about Pokémon breeding. Aware of their different strengths and shortcomings, he found he can help strengthen Pokémon by breeding them certain ways, and sometimes he even ends up with the rare shiny or too. This kind of passion lead him to document his findings, and sending them over to interested professors, ultimately earning him the unofficial title of Professor himself.

My boring old story? I could tell you about breeding and genetics instead... wrote:Soa grew up in a family of Pokémon breeders. Being the first born of his family, they raised him, along with all the Pokémon they raised at their breeding center. Soa had always been curious about all the Pokémon they cared for, and about what kind of work his parents did. His parents loved it when he would ask questions about it because they always had stories to tell him. Soa made sure to focus on any kind of related studies while at school, become a very smart kid when it came to breeding, and related topics. Soon he had a little brother added into the family. While Soa was fascinated by their family's long-held business of Pokémon breeding, his younger brother was more fascinated by the rare and cool Pokémon they cared for. Together they made a pact that Soa would breed the strongest Pokémon for Rich to raise, and Rich would find the rarest Pokémon for Soa to breed. With that pact in mind, their passions ended up drifting them apart a bit.

Soa was that guy people would taunt and tease in school, however, Soa never payed any mind. Meanwhile, Rich would be taunted about his brother, and this bothered him a lot. Rich pushed Soa to be more aware, and to stand up for himself, but Soa insisted he was too busy to worry about bullies. He was getting in a lot of difficult classes, and he had to do the best he could with them, meaning lots of studying and reading, and at the same time, he was now working with his parents at the breeding center. This was a bit of a strain on the brothers, as Rich found the best way to stop being taunted about his brother, was to ignore his brother.

A while later, Soa was no longer in school, and now was working full time at the breeding center. Together he and his parents established a network of clients. They sent "starter" Pokémon to various Pokémon professors who would give them to new trainers, as well a to trainer schools, so they could be used to teach upcoming students. Lastly, they even had gotten permission from the nearby safari to let Pokémon roam freely on their safari if they so chose, allowing trainers to go and capture Pokémon there. Occasionally, Soa woul get visitors that would ask about Pokémon for their kids, or even new trainers themselves asking about a Pokémon. Soa always loved helping them find a willing Pokémon to take home to their families, or on their journey with them.

However, after all this time, Soa never forgot his pact with Rich, and when Rich himself graduated, and announced his Pokémon journey to his family, Soa had already hand breed three Pokémon for him to take with him on his journey along with his first Pokémon, that Soa had helped him hatch as tradition. Rich having been touched by his brother's gesture left with a full heart, and promised to tell Soa everything about his journey. Every now and then, Soa went on trips himself, looking for a rare Pokémon to bring to the breeding center. Eventually, Soa even took classes and got a pilot license, then collected enough funds to purchase a helicopter, that is both used to survey and travel along the breeding center's large grounds, or he would fly over even to other regions on his trips, sometimes even managing to visit his brother on his journeys, where they would trade Pokémon, and keep to date with each other.

Enhanced Perception (Observation): Over time Soa has become abnormally well at figuring out the moods and temperaments of Pokémon just by simply observing them, and how they behave. Both his knowledge, and experience with Pokémon contribute to his ability to pick out enough details in posture, behavior, and voice to tell how a Pokémon feels, and if their basic needs are met.

Soa was up late into the night. His small lab he made in one of the many sheds on the grounds, was cluttered with books and papers. Despite always being busy with the breeding center, he seemed to always find time to make this lab a mess. Now all that could be heard is the quiet breathing of Hesti sitting next to him, and Soa's fingers tapping away on the keyboard... At least until the howl of Heph rang out into the night sky. Breaking his attention away from the screen, he looked towards the door. Hesti began to stir as well, and once she heard the howl, her expression turned from one of tiredness to worry.

Soa quickly stood up, grabbed a flashlight and his overcoat, and swung open the door. Outside was cool and humid, nothing uncommon for living so close to the sea. Heph's howl rang out one more time, and Soa quickly began jogging towards that direction. Heph had been trained to howl like this when there was a problem... and that could range from mischievous kids trespassing onto his grounds at night to a Pokémon having been injured. Hesti tried her best to keep up, her plump and round figure making it a bit hard for her to run alongside Soa.

Soon, however, Soa reached the scene, where Heph stood, hunched down, and growling at a large pair of eyes glowing from out of the shadows. Soa gulped... it sure was a spooky sight... Then he looked down, finding a small Clefable clutching the bottoms of his pants and quivering. Soa nodded and withdrew two more PokeBalls from a small worn bag hanging off his hip.

"All right, whatever you are, this is a warning, leave my little Pokémon here alone, and head back to where-ever you came from... I don't like getting into fights."
