Fearow [Male]Immobilized by the thought of you.
Serious and harsh, Vaniel's starter has been with him ever since he was younger. The small Spearow was just as vicious as his evolved form is now. In fact, Vaniel takes such pride in Fearow that he hardly ever puts the Pokémon into its capsule. The Fearow is often seen perching on Vaniel's shoulder or around the perimeter. He is a prime battler and a ruthless opponent.
—Captured in the Outback.

Ability: Sniper
Nature: Serious
Move Pool: Aerial Ace, Agility, Drill Peck, Drill Run, Faint Attack, Mirror Move, Quick Attack, Return, Steel Wing, U-Turn

Image
Kangaskhan [Female]Hypnotized by the words you say.
Rather unlike the normally caring fellows of her species, Kangaskhan is brutal and doesn't take crap from anyone. She is emotionally distraught at loosing her child and thus she takes her anger out on any opponent Van orders her to attack. Kangaskhan is half crazed with loss of her cub, which though she does not know, was likely Vaniel's doing.
—Captured in the Outback.

Ability: Scrappy
Nature: Rash
Move Pool: Counter, Double-Edge, Drain Punch, Earthquake, Focus Punch, Low Kick, Protect, Return, Substitute, Sucker Punch

Image
Wartortle [Male] - Frozen by the touch of you.
Bitter, battered and beaten, Wartortle was one of the Pokémon that Vaniel selected from the Rogue stores. He often broods at the loss of his ear tuft and his scars, and, while he's a bit reluctant to do battle, he will still listen to what Vaniel tells him to do and will follow orders through. He is tough and hardy and a bit speedy, given his size.
—Received from Team Rogue.

Ability: Torrent
Nature: Hardy
Move Pool: Aqua Jet, Brick Break, Ice Beam, Skull Bash, Withdraw

Image
Electabuzz [Male]Paralyzed by the sight of you.
Formerly a happy Pokémon, Electabuzz is now harshly reprimanded by Vaniel if he shows any form of wanting to play or have fun like he often did. Cowering at the sight of his Trainer now, Electabuzz doesn't make for the best of fighters, but when Vaniel can push him to that point, he can still pack a punch. Him and Magcargo get along nicely.
—Received from Team Rogue.

Ability: Static
Nature: Docile
Move Pool: Cross Chop, Fire Punch, Focus Blast, Hidden Power (Ice), Low Kick, Protect, Psychic, Substitute, Thunderbolt, Thunder Punch

Image
Magcargo [Female]Burning up as you walk my way.
The third and final of Vaniel's selection from the Rogue stores, Magcargo is like Electabuzz in that she is playful, if less so than her Electric-type friend. She, however, has a thirst to prove herself as a strong fighter, and, thus, she will do whatever Vaniel tells her to. She is very adept at using her small size to her advantage, even if she is slow.
—Received from Team Rogue.

Ability: Flame Body
Nature: Bold
Move Pool: Earth Power, Explosion, Flamethrower, Hidden Power (Rock), Lava Plume, Light Screen, Recover, Stealth Rock, Toxic, Will-O-Wisp

I can't seem to find the pretty little face I left behind. wrote:Vaniel is blessed with his father's blond locks and his mother's blue eyes (albeit, his are a rather dark blue). His hair falls loose and messy,  with prominent earlocks situated in front of his ears. His bangs are jagged and one could say he looks like he doesn't brush his hair. He has a sharp jawline and nose, as well as slanted eyes.

Vaniel goes for the functional, clothing-wise. He wears a slate purple blazer with silver trim. It almost is a murky purple in shade. It is a dull wash, so that it doesn't reflect light and can blend in with shadows. Under said jacket he wears a black wife-beater. For pants, he wears simple black jeans and a pair of murky purple boots to match his jacket.

As for jewelry and details, he's not very fond of such things, but he does have a few such items. First is the pendant around his neck, a white pearl (the opposite of his brother's black one). Second, he bears a Greek cross tattoo on his right bicep. Along the transepts of this cross are the Latin words "validus victum pallens" which mean, roughly, "the strong conquer the weak."

How dare you say that my behavior's unacceptable. So condescending unnecessarily critical. wrote:Vaniel suffers from a number of personality flaws, the most prominent of which is that he's a psychopath (he's incredibly talented at lying and he shows little/no regret for things he's done). Vaniel is also extremely narcissistic and controlling. Things under his control will do and be what he says, to the last little detail. To him, it's a matter of perfecting his world and the things in his sphere of influence. (This is not to say he's above taking orders, just that he'll control who and what he can without letting up.)

Despite all this, Vaniel is very good at playing behind a mask. Lying is one of his greatest skills and he has a nearly impenetrable poker face when it comes to this talent. He's capable of weaseling his way in and out of things, as well as using it to get out of trouble. His lies aren't just the verbal sort, it extends to his entire person. In short, he acts like someone he is not and is fully capable of blending in with normal humans without being detected.

Vaniel is, however, one of the biggest bastards on the face of the planet. When it's not required of him to blend in with society (such as when he's on his own personal time or when he's working for Team Rogue), he can be, and usually is, a complete dick. He is also fond of knives, if you catch my drift.

In short: Narcissistic, egotistical , sadistic, psychopathic megalomaniac-bastard with a knife.

It is also worth mentioning that while Vaniel is a jerk and completely up himself, he is not (typically) this person around and towards his brother, Vincent. Vincent is perhaps the sole exception to Vaniel's bad attitude, but not his controlling one. Vaniel, on the most basic of levels, sees Vincent as something he needs to care for and protect. This underlying feeling gets twisted with Vaniel's personality and causes him to be controlling over what Vincent does.

Name: Terran La'el — Don't be afraid of th'night, kid. Jus' look fer all th'stars.
Age: 47 (Deceased)
Gender: Male
Relationship: Father
Trainer Orientation: Lawful Good
Trainer Class: Ranger

Terran might have been a big influence on Vaniel had the man not passed away when Vaniel was young. Before he died, Terran did actually try his best to teach Vaniel the good of nature and the world around him. Terran truly loved both his sons and things might have been different has he not died.
Image
Name: Roxanne La'el — Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Age: 44 (Deceased)
Gender: Female
Relationship: Mother
Trainer Orientation: Neutral Good
Trainer Class: Tour Guide

Roxanne also passed away when Vaniel was only nine. Both she and her husband were killed in a car wreck. Vaniel's mother was as caring as his father was. She also tried to impart all the useful love and knowledge she could upon her sons.

You should know better. You never listened to a word I said. Clutching your pillow and writhing in a naked sweat... hoping somebody someday will do you like I did. wrote:Vaniel La'el was born to Terran and Roxanne in Alice Springs in the center of the Australian area. He grew up exploring the cracks and crevices of the area around him with his younger brother, Vincent. The two brothers were actually quite close in their young age... even if then, so early on, Vaniel showed a tendency to control Vincent's actions and choices. (Early examples include telling the boy what to spend his allowance on, what to eat and down even to what colors to wear.)

When Vincent was six and Vaniel was nine, their parents died in a car wreck just outside the city limits of Alice Springs. Orphaned at a young age, they were sent to live together with a foster family. Foster family after foster family passed the children on as Vaniel sabotaged all attempts at a new life. Vaniel was set on raising Vincent himself, which, at the time, Vincent did not object to... as he had taken to following his brother's every word and choice.

Around the time that Vaniel turned eighteen (and Vincent was fifteen) he got mixed up in the group known around Alice Springs as Team Rogue. Team Rogue was much like Kanto's Team Rocket and Vaniel abandoned his job for the ranks of Rogue instead. While the group performed illegal activities, it was nothing Vaniel had ever been opposed to. Theft, brawling and sabotage were things he was not above. That, and given the fact that Vaniel was still very protective and controlling of his sibling, Vaniel forced Vincent to join the ranks of Rogue as well.

For a while, the activities of Team Rogue would provide the brothers with the means of living. And, while Vincent kept their actions a secret from Melani, (as Vincent knew Melani would be completely against the fact) he still had not learned how to disobey his brother. After all, Vaniel was the only family Vincent had. So, Vincent stuck with Team Rogue and the theft and havoc that the team caused.

Vaniel himself would actually rise in the ranks of Rogue, hitting the rank of Executive when he turned twenty and when Vincent was seventeen. It was around this time that Vaniel and Vincent's relationship would begin to break down. Having grown secretly jealous of Vincent's relationship with Melani, Vaniel sought a way to break the two apart so that Vincent would once again be solely his brother and not also Melani's boyfriend.

Such a chance of breaking the two up did present itself. Vaniel and Vincent would be assigned to a mission where they were supposed to steal a oil from a production plant in Alice Springs. After sneaking into the compound with another handful of grunts, Vincent and Vaniel got to work. But, it did not take Vincent long before he realized someone else was there... Melani. Vaniel had tipped her off in secret and, in turn, exposed Vincent as a member of Rogue to the last person Vincent wanted to know.

Terrified at losing the girl he loved more than the world, Vincent rushed to explain. Melani, however, couldn't be convinced that Vincent was an honest person anymore. Upset, she began to leave. In anger, Vincent accused Vaniel of being at fault. To which Vaniel replied with a snarl, asking of his younger brother what he had ever done to deserve such an attitude, when all he had ever done was care for Vincent.

Distraught, Vincent made to rush after Melani. That ended in folly. Vaniel grabbed his younger brother and threw him against the fence of the compound. The next moment, Vincent found a knife to his eye, held by his own brother and with the threat that if Vincent tried to leave, Vaniel would leave him blind.

Melani would be the one to break up the hold. Despite not wanting to trust Vincent any longer, she could not abandon him, love is not a thing so easily reversed. She shoved Vaniel away from Vincent and, though in the process Vincent was left with the gash that would become his iconic scar and partial blindness in his right eye, he was freed from Vaniel's hold. Vaniel would turn his knife on the girl instead, but he wouldn't get the chance to use it.

Unfortunately, in the process, the trio in the tussle managed to trip the alarm system at the compound. As officers and their Growlithe began to rush the scene, Vincent and Melani would flee. Vaniel was on their tail. Growlithes hot after them, two of the dogs would be given a poor order of a Flamethrower attack in the middle of an oil storehouse.

The result was disaster, though Vincent can not recall most of the events, he can remember her screams mixed with his own cries. He can remember his brother dragging him away and then all he can remember was darkness as he blacked out. He would wake up three days later in the Alice Springs hospital. His arm seared with pain from the burns it has received, but he sat up to find his brother in the bed next to him.

Vincent was faced with a choice. He did not know if his brother had meant to kill him and/or Melani that night. He did not know how Melani got trapped in the warehouse while himself and Vaniel escaped being burned alive. But his suspicion was there. And, because of that suspicion, so was the only logical choice. Vincent knew he faced charged for being a criminal, so his only choice was to leave.

And leave he did, fleeing that very evening.

With the disappearance of his brother, Vaniel was outraged. All his life he had just seen it as taking care of Vincent and doing the best by his brother. Eluding the law by fleeing the hospital before they could outpatient him and turn him over, Vaniel made a promise to himself to find Vincent and force his younger brother back under his wings.

Vaniel has spent the last few years of his life tracking his dear brother down and has, remarkably, managed to tail him to Kanto. Now it is just a matter of time before Vaniel is able to recapture his younger brother. The only problem? His brother has become one of the most prominent figures in the Rangers of Kanto and getting him is proving to be rather difficult.

As such, Vaniel has decided it is in his best interest to ally himself with the local villains Team Rocket and Amalgam. Time will tell how his events unfold and if his allegiance with any team is beyond surface value.

└-Weapon specializations and fighting styles.

Knives: Wielding a spring-loaded blade, Vaniel has used it long enough to be able to withdraw it in a swift manner, startling people with it. He is not a master at knife fighting, but he knows his way around its use and isn't a fool about how to employ the weapon he's chosen. In short, he's a hassle to take down when he's got one in his hands, but he's by no means about to best someone with a sword or such.
