Mettle [Female Aggron] — Thou hast mettle enough in thee to kill care.
Mettle has been with Hayden for many long years, ever since she was an Aron. She supports Hayden entirely and, having since evolved to a Aggron, is his most trusted Pokémon. She would do anything for him, for his cause, and for his safety. In battle, she is fearless and just as patient as her Trainer. Unlike most of the twins Pokémon, Mettle actually seems to have a heart. She doesn't typically prefer to demolish weak, defenseless Pokémon. (Trainers, on the other hand, are another matter entirely.)

Ricochet [Male Aipom] — Every shot that kills ricochets.
Mostly useless in battle, Hayden has Ricochet for the purpose of theft. The Aipom is quite "handy" and is just as capable as his Trainer at stealing objects and valuables. Often times, Ricochet will provide the distraction that Hayden needs to perform a steal by using Seed Bomb or by just being a general nuisance. Given that the Aipom isn't adept at battle, Hayden doesn't even bother sending him out on a normal basis. Ricochet almost always rides on Hayden's shoulder, similar to Haze and her Swellow.

Hail [Male Cloyster] — Let a storm of hail rain down upon mine enemies.
Hail is Hayden's protection against pesky Fire-types out to melt his Steel-defenses and the Cloyster provide excellent backup. As calm as all of Hayden's Pokémon, Hail knows when to wait for the best moment to strike. Hayden is pretty sure that Hail was abandoned by his previous Trainer and therefore he does his best (in his own fashion) to prove to the Pokémon that he wouldn't let such good skill go to waste himself. Hail is laid back for the most part, and in return, he trusts Hayden fully.

Adamantine [Female Steelix] — Impregnable is the only word I can supply.
Adamantine is as brutal and ruthless as she was when she was an Onix, only now as a Steelix, she has an extra boost in defense. She is Hayden's pride in joy as far as defense goes, having even more edge than Mettle does. He sends Adamantine out to befuddle and shock challengers into fear of his defensive might. Adamantine can sometimes go over board, though, typically hurting Pokémon and sometimes humans far beyond the need for at the time. In short, she can be overly sadistic, which Hayden is trying to train this out of her.

Points [Male Yanma] — Shadows in the grass...
Like Haze, Hayden took his first Shadow Pokémon from Cipher's reserve. Choosing a Yanma to balance out the slowness of his team, he cares little for the actual use of Shadow Pokémon and keeps the Bug-type stowed safely away in his coat, as per his orders. He doesn't even typically send the Pokémon out when he has permission to. Basically, the Yanma might as well not exist to the boy. Hayden named the Yanma at Haze's insistence.

Hayden stands less than average, about five feet, six inches tall, and he keeps his black hair short, styled into a spiky, short mohawk. His eyes are gray, with flecks of green, and his skin is a bit tanned from his activities outdoors.

Outfit-wise, he wears a blue, long-sleeved coat, that is trimmed in silver. It cuts off at his waist and he cuffs it up to his elbows. On his arms he dons two black arm-guards. He wears simple black pants, which are tucked into his boots. On his feet are two nondescript blue boots, soft in make, and somewhat form fitting.

Hayden is extremely collected, almost to the point that he never slips up and, when he does, he's already plotting ways to turn everything around again in his favor. He calculates and recalculates everything... and between himself and his sister, he is perhaps the smarter of the two. He's inclined to hang back in battle, biding his time, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

In contrast to his sister, he is rarely rude, and talks in an almost archaic fashion. He's very good with both his hands, being quite an adept thief. He loves his sister deeply, though it hardly shows through his silence. As Haze does with him, he shares a bond with her that will never sever.

Sloan is a thief to the core and, because of his profession and the long nights he would spend out stealing away Pokémon and valuables for cash, he never really got to know his two kids. Which, honestly, was just fine with them. Sloan has very few morals and and often doesn't give shit what other people think about his lifestyle.

Name: Gemm Cabret — To me, beauty is the wonder of wonders... It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances.

Gemm also doesn't really care what others think of her and she is also somewhat of a thief. She likes to trick men into thinking she's into them and then steal their wallets or anything of value they might have on them. She does have a little love for her kids, but not enough to keep them around.

Having been born and having grown up in the Under, Hayden has known a sort of "roughness" his whole life. He and his sister, Haze, his senior by twenty-six minutes, had run the hazardous streets of the Under since a very young age. Hayden found very little to envy in the world above and adapted to his life in the dark and dank world below quite well.

Unlike Haze, Hayden took great interest in the city itself and became quite a thief in the streets and hideaways that the Under provided. He received his first Pokémon about a year after Haze received Divide. A thief professional of sorts took Hayden under his wing, teaching him the tricks of the trade. During the process, he gifted Hayden with an Aron and an Aipom that he had stolen for a job that ended up falling through. Hayden raised them to become Mettle and Ricochet.

Eventually, the society of the Under moved above ground, and Hayden and his family took residence in Pyrite Town. Finding even more treasures to steal around the town, Hayden seasoned himself in his trade. Haze eventually got him to take interest in battle and he honed his defense skills to match her speed in Duel Square, finding that he much enjoyed frustrating opponents with impregnable defenses.

As the Orre League budded, Hayden followed his sister into the deserts of Orre in search of Cipher. He, too, wished to join them, sharing his sister's dislike of the authorities of their world. If law had meant to do good, then why had the Under grown in such poverty? And so, at his sister's side, he took the oath to join Cipher.

Acrobatics: Hayden can keep his balance while traversing narrow or treacherous surfaces. He can also dive, flip, jump, and roll, avoiding attacks and confusing his opponents and attackers. He is skilled in dodging and ducking, much like a typical thief or ninja is.

Escape Artist: When tied or bound, Hayden is adept at slipping the bonds he's in. He is also nimble with his fingers, capable of untying knots when his hands are confined behind his back. This also goes to untying knots on a regular basis, as he is able to do swifter than normal.

Sleight of Hand: Adept at thievery and managing things with his hands without people noticing, this is Hayden's most abused skill. Not limited to pickpocketing, he can also steal larger items, whole artifacts from museums, for example, without someone noticing. It takes concentration or distraction, of course, but that's what Haze is for.

Stealth: Hayden is skilled at avoiding detection, allowing him to slip past foes or strike from an unseen position. This skill covers mostly hiding and moving silently. He wears soft toed shoes made specifically for canceling the sound of his footfalls.

Hayden sat on one of the fire charred banisters of a decrepit old building. His eyes moved back and forth as he watched his twin pace through the rubble of the destroyed building. They were currently using the place as a sort of base. Leaning on his hand, the boy remained utterly quiet as his sister fumed below.

Haze was scowling. She was upset, of course. They had come to Kanto from Orre to try and track down some new recruits for Cipher, as per Ardos's orders, but so far no one had looked the part. Haze muttered under her breath and shook her head. One would think that somewhere between Fuchsia and Cerulean there would be at least one person of possible Cipher material.

Sighing and pausing in her walk, Haze looked up at her twin. "Don't fall," she said curtly.

He smirked at her and shook his head. She knew better. Of course he wouldn't. And, if in the case he did, Haze was nimble. He had, after all, taken to being a thief as his line of work.

Haze shook her head. "You'd think we'd find someone in Saffron, but nah, everyone there was interested in Rocket. Fuck. Our first mission from Ardos and we're already doing poorly."

Hayden frowned. Yes, he agreed with his twin on that.

She continued without his input, quite used to her twin's silence. "Maybe we should just round up some scruffy kids and drag em back?"

Hayden shook his head.

"You're right," Haze sighed, "Ardos wants older recruits."

As Haze was about to continue her fuming, Hayden rose his hand to silence her. Immediately, the girl stiffened up and slipped back into the shadows of the wall. Someone else was coming near to where they were hiding.

Hayden stood on the banister and walked along its burned length, taking to the shadows himself to watch the opening to the room they were in.

Someone... but just who?
