Are... we getting stronger? Does... does that make... you happy? Eheh~ wrote:

Numa [Female Camerupt]: Numa was caught as a Numel outside of Mt. Chimney, as Courtney wanted desperately to train one of the same Pokémon Maxie had. This lead to her training Numa as much as possible, and leading Numa to be her strongest and bulkiest Pokémon. Numa however unaware of Courtney's original intentions, grew to adore her trainer, and likewise Courtney had been increasingly fond of the Pokémon as well. This later evolved into a bond that would be capable of mega-evolution, and Courtney relished in the idea of having such a bond in common with Maxie.
Image
Nin [Female Ninetails]: Nin was originally owned by a childhood friend of Courtney's, who had long passed away in their youth. Courtney continued caring for Nin when she was just a Vulpix, realizing her previous owner's dream of performing in contests with her. Afterwords, Courtney evolved Nin into a Ninetails to help support her in Team Magma. Nin soon became a formidable Pokémon, with a knack for using a focus of both fire and psychic attacks.
Image
Yen [Female Mightyena]: Courtney caught Yen after it had attacked her and Nin while doing field study for her course. Yen was only just a Poochyena at the time, however it soon evolved after working with Courtney after joining Magma. While still not a primary Pokémon, Courtney often uses her when she doesn't want to commit fully to a battle... which is quite often. Yen is a rather standoffish Pokémon whom likes to throw her weight around, and is ether found lounging, staring someone/thing down, or not seen at all.
Image
Low [Male Swellow]: Low is a Swellow Courtney had caught to help with transportation. Low has strong flying ability, and can carry Courtney a good distance. While also not a primary battler, it remains on Courtney's team for desperate times when she needs to make a fast escape, or simply needs to get from point A to point B within a reasonable amount of time. Over recent years, however, Swellow has seen his fair share of use and time with Courtney, traveling and exploring even extreme weather conditions, honing Low's flying ability to even be able to navigate potentially dangerous weather effects without much hindrance.
Image
Frost [Male Alolan Vulpix]: Frost is a Vulpix from high on the cold peaks of an Alolan mountain. Courtney found frost in the wild, and was immediately entranced by the alternate form of the Pokémon she knew so well. Hoping that by studying the Pokémon more, she captured the Alolan Vulpix to compare to the more familiar fire type form of Vulpix. She named him Frost. Despite Courtney's interest, Frost seems to reject her attention, and when brought up to face Nin, he seems rather standoffish. Frost instead would rather keep his distance. The only quirk Courtney had found so far was that presenting it with food tends to make Frost more content, and he will seek out food whenever hungry.

Cloud [Female Castform]: Cloud was a gift from one of the weather institutes Courtney had worked in while conducting her research. She took in the Pokémon, but was more interested in it's ability to adapt to different forms of weather, and had thus never planned on battling with the Pokémon. Instead, Cloud tends to follow her around, outside of it's Poké Ball where Courtney can continue to observe for any effects it might undertake during different weather occurrences. Cloud seems to like affection, and has a rather quirky nature. Possibly due to it's changing forms, it quite enjoys abnormal weather, often flying circles in rain, and basking in the sun during a sunny day.

I do my... best wrote: Courtney is a slim woman of about 5'6'' tall, and light colored skin. Her hair is cut in a short bob-style, with a fringe swept to the right. Her hair was originally a dark brown, however during the times of Pokémon contests, she had died it into a light lavender color. Similarly, she wears colored contacts, hiding the fact that originally her eye-color was also dark brown. Along with the contacts, she highlights her eyes with a touch of makeup, making her eyelashes appear longer and angled upwards. Despite her care in appearance, she tends to have a very inattentive, and spacey expression.

She is usually seen in her magma uniform, consisting of a hooded jacket, bearing the magma insignia at the collar and two yellowish horns on the hood. the jacket connects at about mid-torso, and flares outwards around her waist. Underneath the jacket she wears a pin-striped red sweater dress, which ends at about thigh length, featuring sleeves and a turtle-neck like collar. She wears red and black gloves, which act similarly to metal-working gloves, meant to guard from hot materials and objects. The gloves extend into arm-cuffs designed for similar reasons. The boots for her outfit follow the red and black theme, and have thick souls, meant to protect the feet from walking on hot terrain, as well as providing grip for rocky and loose surfaces, and extend up the calf for similar protection along her legs. Courtney had her boots personalized adding heels.

When not wearing her uniform, Courtney likes to wear light casual jackets and shorts, or similar dresses, of varying colors typically of the warmer color range. She now regularly wears her keystone for mega-evolutions on a necklace regardless of the outfit she is wearing. Her favorite outfit is a orange hooded jacket, and a red dress similar to the one she wears in her Magma uniform.

Courtney is a quiet and inattentive girl, however despite her apparent lack of awareness, she is actually very bright. She is capable of finding and conducting research, and surprisingly intelligent. However she is rather introverted and self-contained. This leads to a rather slow speech pattern, which may even sound as far as air-headed, despite her smarts. While quiet, she isn't shy, as she has taken to contests and performing in her younger years, this lead to her finding a liking in style and appearances, despite being rather aloof.

Most of her personality however, is derived from impulsive obsession. Courtney tends to lack interest in just about everything, however when she does find interest in something, she continues to pursue that interest indefinitely. This is what lead her to contests, geology and meteorology, her studies of Maxie's work, and overall her interest in Team Magma and their cause. However, this also drove her towards Magma in the sense that she had missed her family, and sought to find connections like that, making her ties with Team Magma all the more personal as well.

Courtney was born in Mossdeep City, an island north-west of the mainland. While Courtney grew up, she showed signs of inattentiveness early on, leading many to expect her to have trouble in school. However, surprisingly she excelled in math and science, while having a few spurts in history. At the same time, she quickly gained a couple friends, and ended up spending a lot of time with one of them in particular, a girl in her grade named Karen. They soon became fast friends, and Courtney showed vast interest in her life. Karen's family had a pet Vulpix, and Karen herself had wanted to grow up and do Pokémon contests. They grew up, and they were nearly inseparable friends, until a tragic accident occurred, resulting in Karen's death. Due to the nature of Karen's death, having drowned in the ocean, Courtney developed a strong phobia of the water. Due to how well Karen's Vulpix had connected with Courtney during their friendship, the family let Courtney take ownership of the Pokémon. While continuing to excel in school, she soon transferred to Rustboro City in an attempt to escape the island she had lived on. Here, she began studying geology, and meteorology. As time would pass, the pain from losing her childhood friend would pass, and while the fear of the ocean would as well, it still left negative feelings behind.

While living in Rustboro, she hadn't forgotten her childhood friend Karen, and soon she found herself performing in contests in her stead. However, the contests themselves weren't what truly interested her, instead it was the concept of showmanship, and appearances that had peaked her fancy, and soon she stopped performing altogether to continue perusing her passion that was the makeup and workings of the earth and the life that lived on it. She studied the relationships of biomes, and weather, and how they effected life. This research lead her to finding some publishings of Maxie. Maxie's seemingly extensive knowledge, and less than conservative theories and ideals intrigued Courtney, and she continued studying more works by him. Soon, she began following in his footsteps, beginning to focus and study harder. Soon she found herself doing research in many of the same institutes Maxie had previously worked in, slowly shortening the distance between her and her idol.

While studying and doing research, now on Maxie himself rather than souly his research, she found that he was involved in an organization conducting research and explorations. More than interested, she quickly sought this out, and found her way into Team Magma, early on. While partaking in the research, she continued to try and please Maxie in particular, often trying to do as well as possible and show off what she could do. Her devotion only grew, even as Team Magma slowly began drifting from grace. Even more determined to work for Maxie's cause, she equipped herself with a team of Pokémon, and pushed even harder, soon moving to the rank of admin. While this might have simply been at an effort to speed up the process of expanding the Earth, Courtney was still honored of the rank, and quickly wanted to prove herself worthy of Maxie's acknowledgement. This however slowly backfired, as she barely managed to accomplish her tasks due to interference with exceptional Pokémon Trainers.

Eventually Team Magma's goal came to fruition, however soon backfiring, and leading to a chaotic event left to be resolved by the collaboration of Team Magma, their rivals Team Aqua, and multiple and well renown trainers. The resolution of the chaotic event also lead to Team Magma disbanding.

Courtney had fled to the shadows, keeping out of the public eye, however still searching for Maxie in hopes of still realizing his dreams. She continued doing whatever she could to improve and better be able to aid Maxie, even if Team Magma wouldn't be recreated. She continued her studies, and began traveling around the world to many facilities. During her travels she continued training her Pokémon, trusting herself to fend on her own against wild Pokémon and potentially other trainers as she conducted research. However her primary focus was to accumulate as much knowledge as possible that would aid Magma, along with studies of how to aid humans and Pokémon in countering adverse weather effects that might occur in Earth's future. At the end of each year, she would return to Hoenn to seek out any signs of Magma's revival. This process continued over the course of 8 years before she was given word from Maxie that he was ready to try and achieve his goals once again, and Courtney eagerly sought out to aid in the process.

Regular Abilities______________________________________
└-Skills, professions, knowledge and talents.

Escape Artist: Courtney has a knack for getting out of a bind when she needs to. Even after being defeated, she always seems to have an escape route ready, or a Pokémon capable of pulling her away before capture. After the disbandment of Magma, she honed this ability as she remained out of the public's eye, and evaded atoning for her crimes until Magma's revival.

Knowledge (Geology): Courtney spent years in formal schooling, and excelling at subjects of the natural world, including Geology, Meteorology, and Astronomy. She concreted this knowledge, with plenty of experience in field work, and researching under the ingenious Maxie, as well as other renown institutes. Overall she has accumulated around 18 years of high level research only split with topics in the nature category. Theses topics are boosted by her obsessive craving to learn in this topic for the sake of Magma's cause.

└─Power Level: Master

Knowledge (Nature): Coupled with her study of Geology, and Meteorology, she studied a great deal about ecosystems, biomes, and the natural life that live within them. She first began studies in formal schools, advancing into classes that would conduct field-work, before leaving altogether and learning under Maxie and colleagues in Team Magma. After the initial collapse of Magma, she began traveling the world continuing to do research primarily on the subjects of extreme weather and Pokémon's adaptations/evolutions. She is brilliant in environmental sciences, but only really mastering the understanding of specific subjects like: adaptation, evolution, and life in extreme weather conditions; as well as the effects of weather on ecosystems.

Stealth: Courtney has has had a lot of experience in attempting to be quite, and move without drawing attention. However she has had no formal training, or lessons on the art of stealth, she has over the years been forced to quietly conduct illegal activities, as well as having to sneak up on wild Pokémon while conducting her research. Overall, she has learned a thing or two about staying low, not making noise, and doing things such as opening doors, and traveling through woods in a manner that is quieter than normal.

Unique Abilities_______________________________________
└-Powers unique to the character.

Obsession: Courtney is able to focus intently on specific things that falls under her interest, giving her an uncanny ability to perceive and learn about that specific subject rapidly while under her focus. However, the drawback is when under this kind of focus, she remains nearly oblivious to all other matters, including her own surroundings. This means she almost naturally prioritizes specific subjects over any other subject, and as such learning and increasing abilities regarding those subjects comes faster and easier, while diminishing her ability to learn and grow in other subjects.

Courtney stood once more at the mouth of the Cave of Origins in Sootopolis City. The City seemed to have recovered after the incident before, and people walked along the shorelines of the water. Courtney's eyes however didn't watch the people, instead they rest lazily on the opening of the cave. Of course she wouldn't be let inside, and she wasn't willing to force her way in, so she rested on a bench nearby. She wondered on occasion if Groudon had somehow managed to return underneath Earth's crust, or maybe Maxie was waiting just behind the last shreds of light that waned into the mouth.

Maybe just this once she'll sneak inside. She could see for herself. She stood up from the bench, and began walking closer to the mouth of the cave. She had remembered years ago recieving permission to study the cave in the name of scientific research, so she was familiar with the storeis of the Cave of Origin, the source of life. Though it wasn't the cave itself that brings her here to visit on the occasion. It's the idea that she may one day find Maxie, and she could help him reach his goals once more.

She wasn't wearing a magma uniform any longer... Now she wore a simple hooded jacket, a deep orange in color, and a red dress underneath. Either the years of time erased this place's memories of her, or they simply didn't recognize her without the magma insignia, but no one had ever attempted to cause her troubles while visiting... Instead, the only suspicion they had was simply questioning if she should take off into the cave, guarded from even Sootoplois' own residents.

She was only mere steps away from the rocky path into the cave. Her shoes tapped a stone or two just as the lip of the cave loomed over her head.

"Excuse me"

Tap... tap...  Maxie might just be around the corner...

"Excuse me, miss"

That time she had heard the voice, and she turned to look over her shoulder. A stern face was looking back at her, and he seemed to glance at her hair, then back to her eyes.

Courtney turned around to face the man. An older gentleman, who seemed like he was ready to tell her to get out of the cave.

"Excuse me, is you're name Courtney?" the man asked her, then he quickly beckoned her out of the cave.

Courtney didn't move, so the man continued "If you're Courtney, an older gentlemen asked me to pass along a message to you if I happened to run into you"

That got her moving again, returning out into the sunlight that peeked through the gap in the high rocky walls. She followed the man, who was intent on leading her away from the cave as much as possible.

"He told me that you'd know what this is about... he wanted to meet at Mt. Chimney... Though... that was some time ago..."

Courtney had already began walking passed the man, who abruptly stopped what he was saying as she passed... He just remembered seeing her smile, before turning around and watching her back as she walked away.
