When battling, Cynthia focuses not only on the battle at hand, but on the trainers she battles, accessing them for strength and weaknesses that they may possess, and attempting to determine their treatment of their Pokémon. She finds neglect and the use of Pokémon as simply tools to be used and discarded, deplorable. She is also possessed of a strong sense of justice, most especially when it comes to the treatment of Pokémon.
In more personal relationships, Cynthia is friendly and talkative, always willing to offer advice on whatever she is asked about. She has few truly close friends, but many casual friends with whom she shares some level of closeness. She also has a fondness for knowledge regarding Ancient Ruins, spending much of her time seeking them out and researching them when not battling or traveling, even going so far as to refer to herself as a researcher of myths.
Despite her comely physical appearance, Cynthia prefers to maintain a sort of gender neutrality, with her being female regarded as secondary to her position and ability as a Pokémon Trainer. Because of this, she tends to avoid the topic of her being the only female Champion.

Her desire to learn about more Pokémon spawned her dream to one day meet Palkia and Dialga, and eventually find what she refers to as the Timeless Origin of all Pokémon.
Wishes and dreams aside, Cynthia's training with her Gible eventually elevated her beloved friend to the Garchomp she now uses in almost every battle. Garchomp is by far her most powerful Pokémon, and has never been seen losing to a single opponent.

What held all of her focus was the trainer standing a distance away from her, and the two Pokémon engaged in battle between them.
Her Rucario had taken a devastating hit from her opponents Honchkrow. As her Rucario fell, she extended her hand, a thin beam striking the Pokémon and returning him to the safety of his Poké Ball. He would be her first concern when the battle was over. A slight nod of her head to the trainer she had been battling, she pulled another ball from her belt, sending it spiraling into the field with sharp toss.
"Garchomp, Battle Dance!" the ball opened in mid-spin, Garchomp springing from the light that had emerged. "Gaaaaaarrrrr!" The Pokémon's cry was ecstatic, and with good reason, as she was battling with her mistress again.
The Honchkrow flapped its wings with a caw of irritation, before immediately tossing itself back into the battle. No sooner had Garchomp appeared than it immediately drew in power and launched a Hyper Beam at Garchomp. Without a word spoken between Cynthia and Garchomp, its wings drew forward to brace against the impact of the light, though it was shoved backward a substantial distance.
The smoke that surrounded Cynthia and Garchomp cleared with Garchomp's waving wings, and she launched herself into the air. Winded from using most of his abilities against Rucario, Honchkrow was helpless as Garchomp was encompassed in a spinning haze of light. This was a familiar move, and one that she had used against Lucian's Bronzong. Amidst the smoke, Cynthia stood with her head bowed slightly, and a faint smile curving the corners of her mouth upwards.
"Garchomp, Giga Impact!" From inside the light, Garchomp could only go one way, forward. And it was this forward impact that left a hazy trail of light, the movement sending a spiraling dust cloud behind her as she launched just above the ground to impact the Honchkrow. The Honchkrow cawed as it spun wildly, landing in a daze on the ground at its trainers feet. A movement brought Garchomp to land by Cynthia, who walked forward and laid a hand across her neck. "Good job, Garchomp."
"You did very well," her tone was kind as she spoke to the trainer now holding her fallen Honchkrow. "With more time and effort, you and Honchkrow will become truly great, I think."
The trainer who had been crestfallen as she returned Honchkrow to his Poké Ball looked up with a faint glimmer of hope in her eyes.
"Do.. do you think so?"
Cynthia nodded, and placed her hand upon the trainer's shoulder. "Now, don't you think we should head to the Pokémon Center? I think Honchkrow and Rucario need to be taken care of, and then they've earned a little pampering." Her head tipped slightly and she flashed a smile at the young woman. This trainer had the potential to be great some day, not only was she intuitive, but her battling showed genuine caring for her Pokémon and their well being.
"Yes!"
A last glance toward the tablet behind her gave Cynthia one more reason to smile, as she and the trainer, conversing lightly about the differing strength of their companions, made their way into Celestic Town.
