Kaenjishi [Female Pyroar] — "I'm burning up with my hatred for you!"
Kaenjishi was Malva's first Pokémon. The origin of this Pokémon is unknown, but Malva never goes anywhere without her. The one exception was when Kaenjishi was on loan to Aliana, of Team Flare, but it didn't take long for her to miss, and subsequently reclaim her beloved Pyroar. One of the Royal Pokémon family, she's very appropriate for the woman known as the Duchess and is one of the pillars of her team.

Chandela [Female Chandelure] — "I'm burning up with rage!"
Malva doesn't speak much about where she obtained Chandela, and the Pokémon herself offers little hint of her own origins. She's an obedient, if unusual Pokémon, and Malva is quite lenient with the fiery ghost. She will often lurk quietly, waiting to be utilized in battle. She can be frequently found loitering around the ceiling in Malva's bedroom, and Malva has gotten in the habit of using the Pokémon a bit as a therapist, having long conversations with her when she's troubled about something.

Fiarrow [Female Talonflame] — "You're only adding fuel to the fire!"
One of the Pokémon most active during Malva's earlier times with Team Flare, Fiarrow is a hot-headed little thing with a temper as fierce as one could imagine. She has a tendency to jump straight to violence when Malva is threatened and is even protective to a point towards Malva's other Pokémon when they have the chance to interact. Fiarrow was obtained as a Fletchling, and has been with the trainer almost as long as Kaenjishi has.

Cotoise [Female Torkoal] — "There is no respite from the inferno."
A relatively new addition to Malva's team, she was obtained well after the woman had left Team Flare after it's initial dissolution. Cotoise is a Torkoal of average size, with a somewhat lazy demeanor and relaxed attitude. She's used in battle somewhat less than the other Pokémon on Malva's team, but is no less valued, despite her somewhat diminished contributions, in comparison to her Mistress' other companions.

Mahoxy [Female Delphox] — "We'll watch the world burn down."
Mahoxy represents a different period in Malva's life, when she was active within Team Flare. This Pokémon was originally intended for Calem Xavier, and was stolen when the case containing Mahoxy, then Fennekin's Poké Ball were taken to Team Flare's Secret HQ, one of many taken from Vaniville Town. When Malva returned to active duty as a Team Flare Administrator, she dug through the collected pokeballs, found the case with Fennekin inside, and claimed the Pokémon for herself. Mahoxy has been trained, groomed, coached, and evolved until she's one of the unfailingly loyal and incredibly strong members of Malva's team. She briefly lost Mahoxy when he was returned to his original owner after Team Flare's original dissolution. Malva later bargained, cajoled, and even begged for the Pokémon to be returned to her. Eventually, she was successful, and Mahoxy once more returned to side.

Hellgar [Female Houndoom] — "We end this in ashes or as ashes!"
No one is certain where Hellgar came from, only that she wasn't, and then suddenly was in Malva's possession. Hellgar is loyal, strong, and fierce in combat, not hesitating to go for the throat when ordered. She has an intense love of battle and though she likes training in general, she prefers fighting with another Pokémon most of all. She is capable of Mega Evolution.

Standing at a fair 5'7", Malva is what some would consider a beautiful woman well into her twenties. She has a slight tan and an equally slight build, with the lean musculature of someone who exercises only casually, but cares for themselves well. Her hair is a vivid shade of pink, with curls falling alongside her face onto her shoulders, and the back pulled up into a short ponytail. Beneath a pair of red-shaded sunglasses, her eyes are a vivid orange color, reminiscent of the fire element she so dearly treasures. She doesn't have any noticeable birthmarks, but beneath her clothing, at the edge of her hip, she has a smattering of freckles in the shape of candle flame.

When it comes to clothing, Malva has an uncommon, but not exactly outlandish style. Her usual outfit is comprised of a sleeveless turtleneck top that cuts off at the navel and has an inverted triangle window just above her cleavage. Her lower half is typically covered by a pair of red and black jeans with several diamond shaped cut outs down the front of the legs, and black high-heeled shoes. Hidden beneath the fluffy turtleneck is a Mega Amulet. Her casual outfits can range in style, but usually tend towards comfortable soft tops and jeans, all in shades of red and black. She never removes either her Mega Amulet, or her sunglasses, preferring the slight bit of mystery the red-framed shades give her.

An intensely passionate person, Malva is a woman who enjoys persuasion, part of her occupation as a TV news reporter when not serving as one of the Elite Four. She's the kind of person who takes great joy in the applause, accolades and fawning of those with whom she is popular. Though not precisely vain, she takes a certain amount of pride in her appearance so far as it influences others to look at her more favorably. She has a private enjoyment of theological debate, and takes pleasure from turning people to her point of view. At the same time, she is willing to concede a point when appropriately swayed and embraces any cause she believes in with a wholehearted devotion that falls to just this side of fervor.

When it comes to battling with her Pokémon, Malva has a ruthless streak and usually pushes her Pokémon onto the offensive, urging them to attack with precise brutality. She encourages cooperation but also competition among her Pokémon. She isn't fond of losing, but is capable of doing so graciously if her opponent is demonstrably strong, skilled, or talented. She enjoys all three of her professions: as a Holo Caster Reporter, as an Elite Four member, and even as a member of Team Flare now that it has been reformed.

Born and raised in Kalos, Malva Pachira has a complicated, if somewhat blank history. Not much is known about the young woman prior to her participation in Team Flare and as a member of the Kalos Elite Four, positions that she held simultaneously. A majority in Kalos knows her as a Holo Caster reporter, and she's done a number of different interviews, profile spots, general announcements and news broadcasts, as well as covering critical events and such over the years.

It was in her teen years that Malva met, and grew close to Lysandre, the Team Flare leader. She believed whole-heartedly in the idea of a beautiful world and supported Lysandre's vision and ambitions for the world at large. The precise nature of their relationship is something that Malva rarely speaks of. Eventually, however, the two had fundamental disagreements on the state of affairs in the world, resulting in a falling out which put her into disfavor with Team Flare just prior to its dissolution.

Malva herself participated in a betrayal on a very large scale and there are still some sore about her part in the events that took place in Kalos over the last year. In the end though, Malva herself had a hand in tearing the organization down after having been swayed away from the course that Flare was on for the destruction of the world.

Recognizing and realizing that she had a much more important part to play in the world; that of a teacher of the young and a protector of the future set her on a very different course in life. Once Team Flare was disbanded, Malva took a brief hiatus from the Elite Four to sort out her affairs. She narrowly avoided a stint in prison, only her actions at the very end of the entire debacle giving her a reprieve. Malva returned to the Elite Four a few months later and resumed working as a Holo Caster reporter as soon as the network was brought back up, though she also serves as a normal reporter now, in light of everything that's happened.

Recently, Malva approached Jacques Varnadore for an "interview". After a lengthy discussion and more than a little persuasion on her part to get him to reveal key information about his plans, Malva rejoined Team Flare, this time as a Shadow Admin. Though Malva's views and opinions don't fall precisely in line with Jacques, she is also utilizing her abilities to help keep the man in control and the organization from spiraling too far out of control. All of this is kept quietly under the table, however, and Malva rarely makes direct contact with Flare because of her very precarious position and the way she currently resides in the spotlight.

Only time will tell just how far into Team Flare she is once more willing to go. Though she might be content to remain an admin for the time being, there's no telling how far her ambition will eventually carry her, especially with things in the world unfolding as they are.

Manipulative: Malva, in part as a reporter but also in general, is skilled in the art of manipulating someone through conversation and persuasion. She uses this to her advantage, both in her private life when having discussions with someone, and in her public life as a member of Team Flare and most especially as a reporter. She still has a small following who tune in just to see her reports.

Krav Maga: As someone of a slight build, Malva had to focus on a fighting style that allowed her to best utilize her size and strength. She began training in Krav Maga, a martial style that concentrates on  threat neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers and aggression. Fitting with her somewhat brutal view of battle, it allows her to take down an opponent attacking her as quickly as possible. She's had to utilize it very rarely, but also won't hesitate to take vital strikes against someone else when given the opportunity in a fight, most especially in self-defense.

"So," Malva leaned forward in the heavy chair that held her comfortably. She'd started the interview about ten minutes earlier, and dismissed the camera crew once they'd set everything up. It wasn't the first time she'd conducted a private interview for the Holo Caster, and it wasn't likely to be the last. Business as usual as far as the crew was concerned. What wasn't business as usual was when Malva reached over and cut the video and audio feeds, leaving her and Jacques in the privacy of the small room that was being used for the interview.

"You know all about my... previous affiliation with Team Flare. And while I'm formally out of the business, I still have my contacts and methods of information gathering." She reached up and eased the red framed glasses down onto her nose, bright orange eyes glittering behind them as she stared at him.

"So my last question of the evening, strictly off the air of course, is this, Mr. Varnadore." She smiled, the expression changing her face drastically, a nasty little curve lifting the corner of her mouth.

"How much value do you place in your vision of a better world, and what price are you willing to pay to obtain my cooperation and knowledge in pursuit of it?" The implication of the depth of her involvement and what she wanted was clear, even if she was utilizing political double-speak to state it. She wanted in. And she knew enough that she was more dangerous to the organization on the outside than the inside. No one wanted her standing outside the glass house throwing stones when she knew the structural weak points of the architecture.
