Alto Mare is an isolated island between the south-western coast of Johto, near Azalea Town, and the southeastern portion of Hoenn. It is accessible via ferries near Cherrygrove City. It is a city of canals. Legend has it that the Pokémon Latios and Latias guard the city.

Locations In Town

Alto Mare Museum
Well known to the locals is Alto Mare Museum, which exhibits the Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare (DMA). The fossil of pre-historic Pokémon, such as Aerodactyl and Kabutops can also be seen in the museum's floor. Lorenzo and his daughter, Bianca, are the caretakers of the museum.

Image Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare
The Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare (often abbreviated to DMA) is a large machine. It is situated in the Alto Mare museum. It was built many centuries ago to protect the city from danger; however, the Soul Dew and Latios are required to activate it.

Image Secret Garden
The secret garden, where Latias and Latios are said yo reside, is found near the museum. The pond found here is said to contain the Soul Dew, according to legend. It is the responsibility of the two Eon Pokémon to protect the Soul Dew.

Suburbs and Parks
Many parks and suburbs where Pokémon and humans live lay around Alto Mare. One can find plenty of Pidgey in these places, which live in huge flocks all over the city.

Tour de Alto Mare
The Tour de Alto Mare, a water chariot race, is held annually. Trainers race on floating platforms pulled by their Pokémon. Winners are awarded a medal, depicting Latias and Latios.
